Ewww!

Ewww is Addie's new favorite word. She says everything is "ewww" now. I gave her a piece of pizza for lunch and Addie pulls a mushroom off, holds it up in the air and squeals "ewww!" and then tosses it on the table.

I was also eating a piece and was mid bite when Addie suddenly starts saying "momma momma mom" so I asked her what she wanted and she grabs my pizza from me and pulls off the black olives, pops them in her mouth, then hands it back to me.

Seriously child.

I love to see the temple

Last Tuesday was our ward temple night. I've been trying to find a picture of the Birmingham temple for a wall in our living room, and have not found anything I liked, so I thought I'd go and try to get some pictures. Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate and it was too overcast, so we plan on making a stop on our way down to Birmingham tomorrow to catch our flight to Dallas. I'm praying for blue skies!!!

Addie and I stayed outside, she explored everything while I took pictures and Jarom helped with the youth. We had lots of fun! (Oh and she found a new pencil in the parking lot-she was excited)

Tomorrow we leave for Dallas and will get home LATE Thursday night. I'm excited to see a new city, but will have a lot of time with just me and Addie so if you have any suggestions of things to do, let me know! We are probably going to visit the zoo and the galleria.

Last of Easter pictures

We had a wonderful Easter Sunday. Since Addie doesn't normally wake up until after 10 AM and we had to be at church at 8:30, we waited until we got home from church for Addie to see her Easter basket and hunt eggs.

I don't know what the pout was for.

Checking out her stash

Addie was excited over the caramel eggs...

Addie was excited about candy during the egg hunt at Mom's...again a "whoa"

Jarom and Scott found the golden eggs in the adult hunt...money!

Addie's First Egg Hunt

This year was the first time Addie got to hunt eggs by herself and I was surprised that she immediately started filling up her basket. She got really excited when she found out that candy was inside, and started shaking them all until the candy fell out.
It's next to impossible to get a picture with all of the kids looking, much less smiling. This was the best I could get...candy was far more important.

Kena had hunted eggs at preschool so she knew candy was in the eggs so she'd find an egg, then sit down to eat the goodies. Smart girl! We'd put coins in some of them and when she found one of those she opened it and gave a look like "what a dud!!!" then threw it on the ground.

Prom

Scott and one of his good friends Jamison stopped by on their way to pick up their dates for prom Saturday afternoon so I had some fun getting pictures of them. *Scott is actually in college but got asked by a younger girl to go. It's great when the person you are taking pictures of doesn't toddle away from you! These are my favorites.

Coloring Easter eggs

Who knew coloring eggs would make such a mess? Addie had so much fun coloring her eggs and then recoloring everyone else's eggs when she got a hold of them. She tasted the dye right off and made a terrible face, then proceeded to throw every egg into the cups full of dye, cracking each egg in the process. I was prepared and put her in some stained PJ's so that we could just chunk the clothes afterwards and I am so glad I did. She was covered in dye. Addie spilled the blue dye and then shortly after, the green dye. Sorry Mom...

Addie also enjoyed piling several eggs in each cup. She wasn't waiting on anyone to finish with their egg! Surprisingly, after two baths, all the dye was off her skin! Her toes were the cutest, one foot was green, the other blue, but the picture turned out really blurry-I'm still learning all about my camera.

PJs

Addie has had a growth spurt and shot up at least an inch or so over the last few weeks. Suddenly, none of her footed pjs fit anymore... Sad day. So we took a trip to Bridge Street and found a ton of cutie two piece pjs. Here is one morning last week.
Addie's cheesy grin

This one is a little blurry, but her grin is my favorite.

...and yes, she did break both bracelets shortly after...

PS...

I had called the new insurance, BCBS when I found out about the waiting period. The booklet actually said 2 years, but since we are currently covered under NAMCI, the wait is reduced to 1 year. Our new plan is individual blue, it works out cheaper for Jarom's work to do it that way, so when you pick up an individual plan there is no coverage on preexisting conditions for one year... boo. I thought the same way all of you did (as did the surgeon) but they quickly set me straight... :)

Decisions, decisions...

I hate insurance.

I met with a general surgeon yesterday after having the ultrasound done on my gallbladder. It seems that I have a small polyp or stone, so he wants to proceed with the functioning test...yuck. Depending on the results of that, if the gallbladder is functioning, I will be sent for a test where they put a camera in my stomach, or if it isn't, I will have surgery. It has all been put into fast forward though as our insurance is changing May first to a different company and they have a one year wait limit on preexisting things. So everything has to be done by May 1 or I have to wait a year.

As I was reading the booklet from BCBS it also has a 365 waiting period in which it won't cover maternity... We had planned on getting preggers later this year, but now have to wait until May 2010. That means Addie would be 3 1/2 years older than her sibling... Not what I really wanted. So Jarom has the option to pay for his current insurance until whenever we decide to switch OR to switch now and it be free monthly. The thing is, the insurance we are on already has a HUGE $3300 deductible before it covers ANYTHING. So already this year we've racked up over $2000 in bills. Too bad you can't have a baby in 8 months so that we'd only have to meet one year of deductibles if I got preggs now. So the dilemma is to keep paying for insurance that barely covers anything so that we can have a baby in our timeline or to just wait and still pay about $4000 with the new insurance. Did I mention I hate small business insurance??? Also did I mention I am SO not wanting to be preggers anytime soon?

I hate making big decisions. Time to pray I suppose.

Oh my oh my.

Mistake number 1: Thinking since there weren't any cleaning chemicals in the lower cabinet in my bathroom, it didn't need childproof locks yet.

I got up early this morning to mow our yard and do some major weeding before Addie woke up since the rain was coming and I knew it would be a while before the grass was dry enough to cut. So I come in filthy when Addie woke up, so I let her play in the bathroom while I was scrubbing my hands and arms because apparently just a hand wash isn't good enough for my dirt that became embedded in my skin. I had just put some cheese toast in the oven-my last 2 pieces of bread... time for a trip to the store. She got into the cabinet with my fingernail polish, which is normal for her, she never can get anything open, so I didn't do anything and continued scrubbing. That was my second mistake.

Apparently the top/brush was loose on the red/orange one. I look down and she is just getting the brush out, I panic. I try to grab it from her and she freaks...my third mistake. Nail polish covers her hands and splatters all over my floor. It makes her mad, so she sticks her nail polish hands in her MOUTH... YES her MOUTH! I'm really freaking out then and try to grab her and put down the nail polish at the same time (fourth mistake)and so she starts hitting the toilet with her still wet hands. Now we have a red/orange floor, child, mom, and toilet. Her face is covered with nail polish, her TEETH are colored, her hands, my hands, and now the sink too as I try to wash her face/mouth/hands quickly.

Seeing as I was to either have a red/orange child or try something stronger than soap, I finally break out the nail polish remover and cotton balls and tackle her hands, cheeks, and my hands, then a warm washcloth to scrub her teeth. I finally soaped her up, got us both clean, and then got the toilet, floor and sink. Now that the crying has stopped, the water is no longer running and things are semi-calm I now can smell the burnt aromas wafting through the house... yes my last two pieces of bread are now charcoal briquettes. We ate dry cereal for breakfast.

Childproof locks will now be installed in the bathroom cabinets.
