2 more pounds and a New Year approaching!

Addie's one month birthday was today! She is our sweet little doll and I love her so much! She's such a good baby and is quiet usually unless she needs something. She and I are getting adjusted to each other and I can sure change a diaper in a flash now! She held her head up forever today staring at Ben Cavanaugh, our friend, trying to figure out who he was. She is good at tracing with her eyes now and smiles all the time with an occasional laugh. Her eyes still haven't changed color much other than that they are now a lighter blue and have a brown spot on the inner right eye that has been there for a few weeks now, so maybe we will have a blue eyed (with a speck of brown) girl! Everything I've read says most babies eyes change by 4 weeks, so we'll see! Her hair has a definite red tint to it, so it looks like Gramps/Mommie have some resemblance to her, because other than that, she is a Haynie baby through and through! She is Daddie's little clone and seeing the two of them together doing the same thing is uncanny!

Addie now weighs about 8.5-9 pounds so she has gained a little over 2 pounds since birth, and now I only have a little less than 2 pounds to lose before I'm at my pre-pregnancy weight. Funny though, no one told me my body wouldn't look near the same afterwards even if I weighed the same!!! Hopefully within a few more weeks I'll have lost the 2 additional pounds and will have some resemblance of my pre-baby body!

Christmas has come and gone, and I have got some Christmas pictures but my camera battery was dead when I went to download the pictures so they will have to be in another post. This picture is Addie in her Christmas PJ's and were sooo cute on her. They are the snug fitting kind and are so sweet! I love when Addie throws her hand across her face like this because it looks like she's going "oh my, what a hard life I have!" I'll post about Christmas once I get my pictures on here.

The days following Christmas however have been MISERABLE!! I awoke with Addie at about 2 AM the morning after Christmas feeling sick at my stomach and sure enough by 8 AM I had a full fledged stomach virus. Well I figured it would only be for about 24 hours like all the others I've had over my life but NO... this one stuck around for 4 full days and even today I have been a little woozy but not nearly like the last few days. I was hoping Addie wouldn't get it but no such luck and by that afternoon she was throwing up too. It is so sad when your little baby is sick and I couldn't comfort her very well because I kept having to run to the bathroom. We didn't puke Thursday or Friday but then yesterday she and I both got the pukes again, so you can imagine my horror thinking we were getting it again. But hopefully (pray for us!) we are on the road to health!

Tomorrow is New Years Eve and we will be spending it with family and friends up on Monte Sano in the cabins. My parents rent a cabin each year during this time and we eat, play games, and talk while we await the New Year! I must say this past year has been a doozy! Thank heaven for medical insurance! I just added up what we accrued in medical costs this year between having Addie, Jarom's eye surgery (which hopefully was the last because he looks great!), and doctor visits, and we had a whopping $28K! I can't imagine having to come out of pocket for all of that! But the year was a great one, which I knew it would be since it is my lucky year! My mom always told me that the year that I turned the age of the date of my birthday (in my case 22 since my bday is June 22) it would be a great year and sure enough, I got pregnant, finished college, had our sweet little Addison, just to name the major events! We took several trips, I went to New Orleans with the American Marketing Association, we went to the beach with my family, to Tulsa to visit the Haynie's, and Jarom of course had his several trips to Atlanta and Birmingham for work. I had many firsts this year: 1st baby, 1st hospital stay (to have Addie), 1st airplane ride, 1st investment property purchase, 1st time to stay alone at home overnight (I know, I know... but I went straight from my parent's house to living with Jarom so I have never had a night alone!), and I'm sure there were others but its late and I'm tired!

Happy New Year to All!

Christmas Already?

I can't believe Christmas is upon us already! It seems like it was just yesterday that I was in the hospital with Addie and now tomorrow is Christmas Eve and I have not wrapped a SINGLE GIFT!!!! EEK! I just have not been in a Christmas mood and so my house has not been decorated, gifts have not been wrapped, goodies have not been baked... groceries have not been bought for that matter! There is not a single gift under our tree nor any ornaments on our tree, just lights! I finally got Addie a stocking at Target yesterday... well Mom got Addie a stocking while I sat in the car and nursed. It has been a huge help having Mom near, she comes over and helps me all the time, even if it is just to hold Addie so I can get some stuff done, i.e. shower and put on makeup! Christmas gifts just might have to be in gift bags this year and goodies will have to be store bought because I have let it go to long!

Addie is growing so fast! She is filling out and has the cutest little chubby cheeks and double chin! She LOVES to nurse and that is basically all we do all day... She nurses on one side for about 8 minutes then has to take about a 10 minute break then nurses on the other side for about 5 minutes then wants another 10 minute break and then she wants to nurse again for another 5 minutes or so... Any suggestions on how to get this to just 1 break in between? She takes her time eating and likes to fall asleep while nursing even if I have her stripped down naked!

Nights have gotten a little better with her sleeping about 2 1/2 hours at a time and then being up for an hour and 1/2 to nurse and change diaper and such in between. Last night I must have been exhausted because I remember getting her out of the bassinet and vaguely remember changing her diaper and her latching on but that is the end of it! I woke up at about 5:50 AM with her laying on my chest and milk dried all over her cheeks and a dirty diaper in the floor so I guess she only got up once between 11:50 and 5:50!

I am getting used to being at home now with her and we actually made it out of the house a few times this week. We got most of the Christmas shopping done yesterday with Mom and Katie and went to work and to our insurance agent's office on Thursday. Tuesday Jarom and I left Addie with Mom for the first time. I had an 8:00 AM (Ugg..) meeting at work (to resign) and then he and I had dentist appointments, went to Target, and then went and got the flu mist per our pediatricians orders. Addie was good for Mom, I just pumped a bottle for her and she was fine! I'll have to return to work from March-end of April for 20 hours a week, but then can be at home with Addie full time, yay!

Oh, I graduated from UAH last Sunday at the VBC. It was in the arena and they had us sitting on the ice from the hockey games. It was so cold!!! It is good to be done with college for the time being, I might go back and get my masters, we'll see.

Well we are about to head off to go see Grandma and Gramps and hopefully get some family pictures made of Jarom, me and Addie so I can go get them printed tomorrow to finish up the gifts!

Being A Mom is HARD!!!

Look how little!
Be prepared for a marathon post!

Ok, so I thought that having a baby at home would be easier than working full time... Boy was I wrong! Never did I think that I wouldn't have my teeth brushed before 4pm or that I'd be finally getting around to doing my hair at 5pm... Or did you know that the 10:00 news is replayed at 2 am? Wow, being a mom is difficult! Today Addie has been VERY needy and I haven't been able to put her down for more than 30 minutes without her wailing. So needless to say I haven't had time to blog/clean my house/do laundry/cook/etc since she's arrived.

Thursday November 29th I starting having bad back cramps and was contracting every 15-20 minutes and so after about 3 hours of that I decided to call the doctor and Natalie said for me to come on in. I didn't really want to because I was busy at work so she said if it got worse to call her back. Well a few minutes later she called me and said Dr. Nix wanted to see me anyways, so I left work and headed to the doctor. He checked me and I was 60% effaced and still only about 1 cm so he said I could either go home and let the contractions get closer together or I could go to the hospital and let them monitor me. I didn't want to waste my time at the hospital if nothing was going to happen so I pouted and we were going to leave when Natalie said she'd go talk to Dr. Nix. A few minutes later we hear him get on the phone with the hospital telling them I was headed over and to start the pitocin. YAY! So Natalie tells us to go straight over to the hospital and so of course I didn't have my bags, and I hadn't eaten lunch or dinner yet and it was about 5 pm. We got to the hospital and they started an IV after sticking me in my left arm 3 times until the vein finally blew and then went for my right arm. I turned green the nurse said and I think this was probably one of the worse parts of my hospital stay! They started the drugs and I had no change all night long.

Finally Dr. Nix broke my water around 7 AM and I went to 3-4 cm and 70% effaced. This process was very painful and Dr. Nix said it was mild compared to delivering so I went ahead and got my epidural shortly after and then was just there for the ride. The nurse checked me around 2 pm and I was still 3ish cm and the same effaced and she got me to a good 4 cm while she checked me and then she wedged me on my side to help things along. Well within about 5 minutes I was having cramps on my right side of my body so they gave me more medicine and it wasn't helping and about 10 minutes after that I started feeling pressure so I told her and she checked me again and I was 10 cm and 100% effaced in just 20 minutes! She had me do a practice push and Addie was crowning so she called Dr. Nix and then we just had to wait for the 30 minutes or so it took him to get there. She had me do little pushes while we waited so by the time Dr. Nix got there I only had to push through 2 contractions and there Addie was at 3:15 pm! I was so lucky and had a wonderful nurse that helped to deliver Addie. Her name is Marie and she really took care of me and spent so much time helping me. I am so happy I had her to help us out! Addie weighed in at 6 lbs 2 oz and was 19 inches long. She scored a 9.9 on the Apgar test thing which is apparently excellent.

Dr. Nix and Addie

Dad, Addie, & Me

My Wonderful Nurse Marie, Addie, & Me
Addie only let out 2 squawks and then they put her on my chest and I just cried and cried until I felt something warm running down my side and realized Addie was peeing all over me! This has held constant with Addie and she poops everytime I put her in the bathtub and then again when I wrap the towel around her after the bath and then she always manages to pee or poop on me when I fail to change her without a changing pad under her.

Case in point... see the wet spot on the couch by Addie? She pooped and peed before we could get a diaper on her after her bath and it soaked through the towel and blanket!
She is a sweet little girl who has been really good for the most part, only crying when she needs something but today has been needier than usual.

Big Yawn!

We came home from the hospital Sunday December 2nd with Addie weighing 5 lbs 13 oz and a 9 jaundice. Addie had her first doctor appointment the Tuesday after we got home from the hospital, December 4th and she weighed 5 lbs 10 oz and was a 14 on jaundice, so we had to go back on Thursday and she weighed 5 lbs 15 oz and her jaundice had gone down to 12. She had another appointment this past Thursday, December 13th and she weighs a whopping 6 lbs 10 oz and has grown an inch, to 20 inches long now! I can't believe she gained a pound and grew an inch in just a little over a week! We now won't go back to the doctor until she is 2 months old, so wish us luck!

She is not on any kind of schedule yet and some nights are horrible while others are ok. Last night was good with her sleeping 4 hours straight and then sleeping another 2. I am exhausted and Jarom is too, little Addie is the only one getting good sleep! My mom has been an enormous help to us, coming over and cleaning, holding Addie so I can shower and go to the bathroom, cooking, doing laundry, and helping with the dogs. Dad and Scott came over and cleaned out our gutters and got the leaves out of our yard which was a huge help to Jarom and then between family and church we haven't had to cook for ourselves for the better part of the past 2 weeks, which has been a blessing! Jarom bathed the dogs and groomed them really well Wednesday and we finally let them near Addie for the first time. They were just really curious and Misho cries whenever Addie does.

We were worried they would be jealous and maybe try to hurt Addie but they just wag their tails and try to get close to her. They are having to adjust to not being the babies anymore and now spend most of their time outdoors to their dismay.

Her little toes are like those tiny sour grapes

I now realize what they mean by a mother's love for her child. I love Addie more than I imagined possible. She has brought a new joy to our lives and despite our sleep deprived state we are so happy.

Look at her eyelashes! They are so long!

Her favorite way to sleep is in our bed on her side

Addie loves to sleep on her side and no matter how many times we place her on her back she always rolls herself over onto her side. Well yesterday we put her in the bed and I'm in the process of getting ready for bed and she proceeds to roll herself on her side and then rolled again over onto her belly. She got mad because then her arm was stuck underneath her belly, but I thought babies weren't supposed to be able to roll over until 5 months or so? She also has held her head up by herself since she was born and picks her head up when she's laying down and looks around or lifts her head up off Jarom's chest when he's laying down with her and looks around the room. She is strong!

Well this is the end of my marathon post, I hope some of you made it to the end. Its the first time in a while she's slept and I haven't been too exhausted to get on and post!

Leaning tower of tree

My Leaning Tower of Tree...

Jarom got in his head that we need a live Christmas tree this year for Addie even though we have a nice prelit fake tree up in the attic... It is a tradition in the Woody family to all go out and cut a tree and Jarom really wanted to start the tradition for our family, so off we go to the Christmas Tree farm. It was sprinkling outside and COLD and I was waddling around in a bad mood. Jarom pointed out probably 6 good trees before I was finally satisfied with one (I was being a putz).

We get to my parents house to drop off their tree and to put ours in stand and Jarom's brand new EXPENSIVE PDA phone falls out of his pocket only to be soaked and ruined within the time it takes us to find it. We get the tree to our home and get the lights on it and then it started leaning, but only slightly. Then as you can see, by tonight it is all but falling over and Jarom just thinks its funny. We still have to decorate it but that will have to wait for another day.

We had our 38 week appointment today and still NO CHANGE! I was so frustrated! Dr. Nix has scheduled for us to go to the hospital on Sunday to be induced. So think of me Sunday night/Monday morning, and hopefully little Addie will be here on the 2nd or 3rd. In the meantime Natalie and the other nurses in his office all told me to go buy some castor oil and drink it. They swore it worked for them. So Jarom and I head down to Propst after work today and buy some. I drank 2 tablespoons like I was told with some caffeine free Pepsi at 7:20 pm and waited and waited and waited.... I had 3 contractions, 2 minutes apart and then they stopped. I was just starting to get excited! So much for that wives tale! Jarom is trying to talk me into drinking the rest of the bottle but I don't think so... it feels like I'm drinking motor oil! So here it is, 1:00 AM and still nothing. Oh well, it was worth a try!

My Sweet Husband

I love my dear husband but tend to overreact and overlook some of his better qualities at times when his socks are all over the house or he leaves his dirty dishes in the living room. Then there are those times when he does something that allows me to remember that I am so very fortunate to have him as my husband, dirty socks and all.

Jarom and my 3rd wedding anniversary was Monday and he got me the perfect present that was completely unexpected! We had decided he was just going to get himself the new video game he wanted and I was going to order the coat I wanted, but my coat wasn't in stock so I figured I'd just buy it later. Well later in the day he tells me he has gotten me a gift so I rush out after work and buy him some gourmet chocolate truffles and a monster croc apple from the Chocolate Crocodile at Bridge Street (AMAZING by the way). So I get home and he has me a box wrapped in gold paper... always a good sign! Inside was a Mikimoto pearl necklace and he got Addie an infant one too for her blessing day. Do I not have the sweetest most thoughtful husband? It made me cry!

So Addie and I will have matching pearl necklaces for her big day, I'll have to have Mommy and me pictures made. I love my dear husband Jarom and am so grateful to have the opportunity to share eternity with him. I know he will be a wonderful Dad to our little Addison and I'm so excited to soon have our little family! I am truly blessed.

feet in the ribs

Addie's Little Foot

So as I desperately try to type this, my sweet little brat Addison is taking both feet and pushing up into my ribs over and over while at the same time her head is pushing down forcing me to lay back on the couch... wow she is pushy already! I think she gets mad at me when I have the laptop on my lap, maybe it squishes her...

I went to the doctor Tuesday and he said that we will have a November baby, which is great news! I have to walk for graduation on December 16th and would hate to have just given birth the week before! Anyways the doctor says I am progressing, so maybe next week's appointment will bring more good news!

Jarom and I have almost finished Addie's room. We still have to put in the new light fixture, paint the new knobs for her dresser, install the front rail on her crib, and some other minor things but I feel a lot better that she almost has a room now! We bought her a new rug since the floors are hardwood and ordered a really comfy recliner/glider from Posh Mommy in Madison (which won't be in until end of December :( ... isn't that sad?).

So I am really hoping the old wives tale about full moons bringing on labor is true... Christy (a gal I'm close with at work and is due the day after me with little Abigail) tells me there is a full moon the weekend after Thanksgiving, so Carly, lets hope this tale is true for the both of us! In the mean time I continue to crave those Dibs Carly had mentioned in her blog, so Lacey, I'm going to try to find them in peanut butter too next time I go to the store... YUM! If Addie doesn't come out soon, I'll weigh 500 pounds!

Less than a month...

Jarom and I are going to be parents in just a few short weeks... eek! Last weekend I had a baby shower at Mom's and yesterday work threw me a shower. I had lots of fun and Addie has SO much stuff already! We ended up with 15 blankets and tons of clothes and some other things as well. Work bought me the bedding set I wanted (minky dot...so soft!) and a beautiful blessing dress, along with other things. Addie will have to change clothes 3 times a day just to get to wear all of the stuff! I still have to buy several necessities, but showers sure do help to get you started! If we induce, only 2 more weeks- scary!

Picnic in the Park

Only a few more weeks of just "us" time, so today Jarom and I had a picnic at Big Spring Park and decided to bring the dogs... not the best idea we've had. It was a beautiful day, perfect weather, and so I made us some turkey sandwiches and sides and we headed downtown. The dogs really enjoyed the trip and had to stop and sniff everything, try to get the ducks, squirrels, and anything else that moved. We had fun but didn't stay too long as I have a hard time walking too far and the dogs were pulling Jarom in different directions at the same time. I brought my camera but of course it didn't work once we got there, and I forgot to bring the new camcorder Jarom bought me this week, so we had to pull out the camera phones, so the picture quality isn't too great.

We are at 34 weeks, Dr. Nix said he'll induce at 38 weeks, so only 4 more weeks to go! We had our house painted this week, so that is one thing I can check off my list. I bought 5 new light fixtures for our house to update the old gold painted ones, and we've gotten three installed so far, so that is on my list to do along with refinishing Addie's furniture, buying bedding and a large rug for Addie's room, setting up her room, cleaning her closet out, buying wall hangings for my house, etc... So much to do in such little time!!!

Catch Up!

Happy Birthday to Alisha! We love you and appreciate all you do!

I realized I hadn't posted in quite some time, we have been very busy working on the house, going to work, church, etc. We should finish the house on Queens this week and it is looking great!

We enjoyed seeing the Haynie's this week while they were in town. We didn't see them as much as we would have liked but did get some time together. Saturday the 13th we went to Kids Market and I bought Addie 60 items for ~$115. Not bad huh? She should be pretty well outfitted for the first several months. Lacey, Michelle and I just picked up everything we liked at first and ended up with a mountain of clothes and had to narrow it down considerably...
I am now 33 weeks pregnant and getting bigger by the minute! Jarom made a tamale casserole tonight for dinner so Addie feels the need to stretch after such a big meal. No matter how much I push her out of the way her little feet make their way back up to my ribs and push and push until she is comfortable thus making me VERY uncomfortable tonight. That will teach me to not eat spicy Mexican food again.
Jarom leaves for appliance training in Atlanta tomorrow and will be gone until Wednesday. This will be only the 2nd time I have ever been home alone and the 1st time it will be longer than one night.
We bought a crib this weekend from a lady here in Huntsville that we found on ebay and so I plan to paint and antique it while Jarom is gone. Alisha, I'm sure I'll be calling you to figure out how you did the headboard we have so I can make it look similar. Then come Wednesday I have hired painters to come in and repaint the inside of our home to get ready for Addie.
Isn't it wonderful to have handy people in the family? My sweet dad is patching all of the nail holes and cracks in our sheetrock so our house will be like new again once it is painted, I am so excited to have my house fresh with new paint! The guy that lived here before us felt a need to put at least 15 nails in each room along with anchors, etc. so there was a TON of patching to do... Hopefully the next time any of you see my home it will be beautiful!

12022 Queens Place Renovation

Today was a day spent working on the house at Queens all day. It was unusually hot for an October day but we got a lot accomplished. The remodel is going well, we should be done by the end of next week. The rest of the hardwood and carpet will be done by Saturday and then next week will be spent touching up paint, cleaning, and finishing touches. Today's big task was getting our huge pile of debris out to the city dump. Mom, Dad, and Scott worked on that while I laid out tile in the master bath. Jarom joined in once he got off work and he cut tile and got ready for another day tomorrow of laying tile. As you can see in the pictures, we have removed the wall from the den to the kitchen and put an island there instead, we have added new custom solid wood cabinets, added hardwood, widened the entries to the main rooms, rid of the wood paneling and pepto bismol pink paint that covered everything, and converted the converted room back into the garage it once was. We still have a good bit to go, but the light is definitely at the end of the tunnel! Meanwhile we continue to sweat through it (mainly Mom, Dad, and Jarom sweat... I try to help as much as I can) and we can't wait to be done! If you know anyone looking to buy a 4 BR/2 BA home let us know.

Titans Beat the Falcons!

Today Jarom and I went to the Tennessee Titans vs. Atlanta Falcons game. It was fun but EXTREMELY hot! The Titans won 20 to 13. As you can see the whole ordeal made my feet swell and we both got sun burns, but it was fun to go to an NFL game since neither of us had ever been before. Jarom won a Vince Young jersey and we both got free Titans hats and car flags. Every time the Titans scored a touchdown they shot off fireworks which startled Addie and made her jump each time, poor little girl! She didn't know what to think about all the noise.

I'm now 31 weeks pregnant and have got to get started on Addie's nursery! Jarom and I are both procrastinators for sure.

Since we were at the game this morning, we missed General Conference but can download it and watch it on the church website tonight. We are definitely spoiled by technology.

We look forward to the Haynie's coming to visit this week! Only 4 more days until they are here!

Addison Elizabeth

Today we got our 4D Ultrasound and our little turkey looks like Jarom. She has his nose and eyes and has some chubby cheeks. She was stubborn the entire time and kept her hands and feet in front of her face. No matter what Jarom, the nurse, or I did she refused to budge those hands and feet out of the way. We tried prodding, poking, pushing, me flipping sides, standing, walking, eating candy, going to the bathroom, etc. and nothing would get her out of her slumber. She would occasionally stick out her tongue, open her mouth or slightly move her arms and legs but never would they leave her face area. Now of course she is kicking me like crazy and trying to dig her feet up under my ribs. Jarom and I really enjoyed our sneak preview of our little girl today. Only a few more weeks until we get to meet her. Isn't it funny how you can love someone so much when you have never met them?

Addie with a hand and arm across her chin and legs up by her ears

Addie with a foot? across her face (they cropped her leg? out of the picture so we could see her little chin).

We are so excited to meet our little girl. We got some really good shots of her hands and feet and little girl parts even though we could never get a full face picture. Now I can't help but grin whenever I think about her or feel her move. Putting a face to this little one inside of me really makes it feel "real".

30 weeks and no belly button...

I am now 30 weeks pregnant and I have lost my belly button. It didn't pop out, it just flattened out until it is no more.... It is the weirdest looking thing! Sometimes it comes back for a little bit if Addie is moved a certain way but for the most part, it looks like this. Tuesday we go for our 4D ultrasound and I'll be sure to post pictures if I can figure out how to. I think they give you a CD of pictures, but we'll see. We are excited to see our little girl! Since Jarom got his new video game there has been much lounging and playing while I read or play around on the computer. Not too many exciting things are going on with Jarom and me, we are usually to tired to do much, and even the dogs get bored with us. Isn't that pathetic?

Stupid Video Game!

Jarom playing his new Halo III game...
Oh how I love my dear husband but how I hate his love for video games, namely Halo... Upon returning from work today he announces that he HAS to go get the new Halo III once it came out at 12:00 AM... I being the wonderful wife I am finally agree he can be the nerd he is and get it. So we work on the house on Queens, then I crash on the couch. He wakes me up at 11:45 pm to leave and off we head to Walmart. Apparently he wasn't the only goofy person to "need" the game this late at night and then he had to fuel up on the absolute largest sub that Walmart has.... Please now note the time... Little Addie is kicking around trying to figure out why Mommy is up at this hour and eating sandwiches and drinking root beer... I am wide awake and it is now 1:25 AM... I must be as insane as my sweet husband.
