CRUD!

It's been one of those days...

I couldn't sleep last night because I was so angry at some "friends" and their comments behind my back that I found out about.

Then Jarom woke me up early to chat because he was sleepy after working 4AM-7PM yesterday (taxes are due at work) and we didn't get to chat last night.

I woke up with a sore throat and cold that I thought I had miraculously avoided when Addie and Jarom got sick a few days earlier.

I told Jarom about the "friends" and get myself fired up again and can't go back to sleep after he leaves for work.

Addie wanted Kix for breakfast so I was letting her eat them in her bebepod on the coffee table while watching cartoons so I could work on the laptop.

Addie sneezes and gets snot everywhere so I go to wipe her nose and she freaks and knocks her glass of milk all over the remotes to the tv, the wireless mouse to our computer hooked up to the tv, her pjs, and the table and floor. So I clean it up.

My sweet hubby had left his laptop home so I can edit pictures, so I imported my 800 or so pictures from the last several weeks onto my external hard drive and deleted them off my camera.

Then Addie said she needed to potty so I set the laptop on the arm of the couch so I could help her out of her chair. As I did that the external hard drive I had plugged into the laptop fell off the arm of the couch and unplugged. So after potty time I plugged it back in and now all it will do is make this awful beeping sound. I can't access it on my computer anymore!!! All of my pictures for the last few months are on the stinking thing!!! What makes it worse is that Jarom just bought me the really nice 1 TERABYTE drive a few months ago and I didn't use it until the last few weeks and transferred all of my stuff to it! CRUD CRUD CRUD!!!

This is not turning out to be a good day at all.

Oh, then Addie sneezed snot all over my nice dry clean only pillows on the couch.

Yay Addie!

Today Addie only had one accident all day! The accident could have been avoided, except that I was trying to make Addie take a nap and wouldn't take her out of her crib when she was calling me. She finally settled down and Jarom and I thought she was asleep until we hear "EWW!!! Ew, ew, ew, ew, ewwwwwwwwww!!! Mom!!!" We knew it was either an accident or a bug in her room.

We found a video on youtube of Elmo's potty time which she LOVES and sometimes when she needs to go potty she goes "MOM! Elmo!!!".

I'm proud of Addie and hope she still continues to get better!

Addie in her big girl panties that we had to special order online to get the teeny size! We finally found a brand that had almost her measurements, so they are still not snug. They were so stinking expensive, we spent over $50 on panties and only got 11 pairs and I shopped it out for weeks!

P.S. She's pretty proud too, if you couldn't tell!

A Surprise! The rest of the busy weekend!

Can you believe this man is 60?! Happy Birthday Dad!

See how cramped we were? But it was fun!

Opening presents

So last Saturday after we got home from Youth conference we went to a birthday party for little T, who turned a year old. Addie was so ready for a nap, so we left a little early, but I had to go to the store for to buy stuff for the surprise party that was to be at my house the next day. We got home from the store, (Addie fell asleep on the way home) and changed and headed out to my cousin's wedding reception. We came home and crashed, then woke up early for church.

After it was done we rushed home and started to prepare for the party! The original intent was that the party was to be done outdoors since my house is TEENY! But wouldn't you know that since it hadn't rained in a month it decided to rain that afternoon?! Yep, a downpour after we had set out the tables. So we quickly started to improvise. Jarom moved the coffee table into the guest bedroom and we set up two tables in our living room and one out under the carport.

We get it all decorated and everyone arrives. Let it be known, birthday's are a HUGE deal in our family! The birthday boy or girl gets whatever he/she wants on their birthday and if anyone contests, all that has to be said is "It's my birthday" in the singsong voice and it's done immediately! You are totally spoiled pootless on your birthday and we wouldn't have it any other way!

We had told Dad that Jarom was "at church in meetings" so we couldn't celebrate Dad's birthday that night, so then I call Dad, telling him I had been bit by a spider and had caught it in a jar so he needed to come check it out. Dad was in a very ill mood since he thought everyone was ignoring him on his 60th birthday and he told me he'd come over a little later, that he was working out!!! HAHAHA!!! Crud! So I call Mom and tell her she has to light a fire under him.

So over 20 people are shoved in my living room and we are standing by the front door when Dad changes course and heads to the back door... He opens the door to be surprised by my cousins boyfriends who had been in the back...lol! He really didn't expect it and had grumbled all day about nobody caring and everyone doing their own thing on his birthday. He was super mad at Jarom "well he doesn't even like meetings but he HAS to go to them on my birthday!" Hehehe. He really didn't have a clue and showed up at my house in gym short and a tee with 2 pairs of glasses and a flashlight to inspect the spider! Mom had packed him spare clothes and had told him "Beth can't believe you aren't more concerned about her spider bite!!!" to get him hurried.

Scott and Addie...someone needs to wipe that child's face.... :) We had a great time, Bob grilled hotdogs and hamburgers for us all and then we opened gifts, had cookie cake and cupcakes, did the Limbo, and finished it off with some crazy dancing. A fun night!

I think Jarom won the Limbo contest... unless you count little Jared! :)

Dad's pretty flexible!Aunt Margaret is too!

Trip to Troy- A busy weekend!

Jarom and I had to take an unexpected trip to Troy last week to take the youth from church down to youth conference. We had planned on taking them and turning around and coming home and Jarom wanted me to go to help him drive, so I agreed and we headed out early Thursday. Well unannounced another youth shows up that morning, leaving Jarom feeling very uneasy about leaving so we ended up having to stay overnight. This would have been fine if I had packed us clothes, bedding, etc., but as it was, we had to get a hotel, buy clothes and toiletries, and spend an awful lot of money that wasn't in the budget! The youth did have a fun time though, and it was quite the adventure for us.

Here are some of the pretty gals, C, H, & B after they took us on a stinking 1.6 mile hike in the scorching hot sun. Jarom and I were in jeans and Addie was about to fall over from heat exhaustion so sweet Jarom went back after we had walked a mile and the place was no where in sight and he got the car. As we go to head back to campus after the service project we realize that the stinking people took us the LONG way and we were literally within a block of where we started if we had just taken the other way! No one was happy about that! And here are two of the boys, C & A. Poor R was burning up!Addie's necklace kept breakingThe dance and devotional went until midnight that night and then Jarom had to get the boys all situated and lights off, so we didn't get back to the hotel until after 12:30 AM. Addie was exhausted so she and I skipped classes the next morning and I let her sleep.
She sleeps like I used to as a kid... it looks so uncomfortable!
So we went to the nearest hotel, the Hampton Inn...it was clean and looked pretty new, so we get to our room and I open the window and this is what we see! Haha, only in Alabama!

As we were driving we passed a fruit stand that we always pass on the last leg of our journey to the beach, I can't believe we drove all that way and didn't get to go!!! I guess it served as good practice for Addie for the long drive to the beach next month?

Give it up child!

Addie is becoming more and more creative. She keeps coming up with excuses not to take a nap. I get her, her nap blanket, and her piggy and we sit down in the rocker in her room and the excuses start.

Addie: "Mom, hungyy...num!"
Me: "No, you're not hungry, you just ate lunch, go to sleep."
Addie: "Mom... mommy! Want diiink (drink)"
Me: "No, you just had some water."
Addie: "Mom! Pretty buwd (bird)"
{So I give her the bird she is referring to"}
Addie: "Where dad??"
Me: "Dad's at work Addie, I'll wake you up when he gets home..."
Addie: "Mom! Book!!!"
Me: "No, we'll read when you wake up."
Addie: "Where Bobby?"
Me: starting to get frustrated "He's at home. Addie seriously, GO to Sleep!"

Then she pauses... I foolishly think she might settle down and go to sleep until my thoughts are rudely interrupted...

Addie: "Mom! I potty!"
Me: "You need to go potty?"
Addie: "...no..."
Me: "Did you go potty?"
Addie: "...no..."
Me: "Ok, then go to sleep."
Addie: "Nooooo mommmmmm, no night night!"

Finally after a few tears she settled down and went to sleep when she realized none of her excuses were working.

Potty training is going... not fantastically as I'd hope, but she has been self-initiating more. I've noticed if I let her run around bare bottomed she tries to get to her potty when she has to go. She's made it a few times and then almost makes it sometimes. It was kind of funny today because she ran into the living room where her potty was (I'd been trying to fold laundry) and she grabs her potty and runs back to her bedroom where she was watching cartoons and tried to sit down before she went potty, but didn't quite make it... crazy child!

Does anyone want to potty train for me?

Addie really needs to be potty trained... She brings me fresh diapers and wipes, lays down to be changed and likes to wipe. She loves to flush and says "bye poo or pee". She hates normal diapers and wants to wear her princess pullups. She grabs herself when she goes to the bathroom, and can go all night without an accident. The problem is... I'm LAZY! I don't want to do it!!!

Today I decided I'd start and not stress over it. I got caught on the phone right after she got off the potty, and so I missed the time she was supposed to get back on by just a few minutes and she had an accident, but then we had a pee success, woohoo! Then I was busy with some ebay selling stuff, and she had a few accidents in a row, including a TERRIBLE poo one during dinner (GROSS), then later after bath and cleanup she brings me her potty and her book and so we get her situated and she pooped... barely! But still, that is good!

So, I've got to be more consistent... hard to do when you need to clean, cook, run errands, etc.

Any suggestions for solving accidents during dinner? I try to take her before she sits down, but I hate to get her up mid-meal to try to potty... but we always have accidents during meal time!

Also, if any of you would like to come do it for me, I'll pay you! :) Errr... Jarom says yeah right. Darn!

Who knew?!?!

That rotten sweet potatoes smelled like cat urine?! So for the last week or so Jarom and I have smelt what we thought was cat urine in our laundry closet radiating out into our kitchen... We have had a problem with a neighborhood cat spraying everything in our carport, I assumed something had to have been brought in that had been sprayed so over the last several days I've been throwing everything away... I threw away 4 rolls of paper towels, because even though I couldn't smell anything on them, it had to be coming from that since they spent a little bit of time in the carport... same with the 30 rolls of toilet paper...ug. So we get back from Troy tonight and our kitchen still has that musty odor! So I decide to clean the entire closet out to try to find some item that smelled like cat pee. Then I see a glimpse of a white plastic bag behind some of my stock of detergent and my stomach drops... is that the bag of sweet potatoes from last year?! I go to lift the bag up and they have liquefied!!! Brown stinky smelly juice is going everywhere! AH!!! I was freaking out "Ewww eww eww eww ewwww ewwwww" and doing a "nasty eww" dance (Addie copied me while I did it... funny!) as I cleaned and cleaned and cleaned again for good measure.

How in the world did those get pushed back behind cleaning supplies?! Oh my goodness, nasty. Now however my house smells nice and orangy... So if you visited my house over the last week or so and thought it smelled funny, I'm terribly embarrased, because I was so darn sure it was those paper towels and toilet paper!!!

I'm so glad I didn't call animal control... I was seriously so enraged by my "cat pee" I was REALLY close to having them pick up that darn cat...

Salt Lake Temple

Monday morning was our last morning out there so we all packed up and headed to Temple Square in Salt Lake City before my flight left.

Addie at the SLC temple

I got to see the Joseph Smith Memorial building, the Salt Lake Temple, and the new conference center which is all so pretty and so cool to finally see the place that I watch on TV twice a year! We were short on time so we headed onto the airport from there and Addie and I caught a quick lunch at the Pizza Hut in the terminal after we said our goodbye's and before we boarded our plane.

Addie was so excited to see Jarom that day she was in the best mood at the airport and during the flights. I told her we were going to go see Daddy and she was waving and telling everyone bye throughout the airport which is so not my child. She slept the first flight (the long one) to Dallas and then we had a perfect layover and good trip to Huntsville. Addie was so happy to see Jarom and clung to him the rest of the night and next day (which he took off to spend with us).

Carly and Mike were so sweet to let us stay with them the whole time, we had a great time and it was so good to meet the whole family and fun to watch all of the cousins play. We can't wait until the family gets here later this month!

Utah-Part I

Addie and I went to Utah for a week in June and had a lot of fun! I had never been further west than Tulsa, so it was definitely a change! We had a flight to Chicago on Wednesday June 10th then a long layover and then a 3 1/2 hour flight to SLC. I didn't give Addie a nap intentionally thinking she'd sleep on the plane... I was so wrong. She did really well from HSV to Chicago, then fell asleep for 20 minutes as I was getting to my next gate... then I couldn't get her back to sleep. We had a not so fun flight to SLC, she never screamed or made a huge fuss, she was just grumpy and wanted to walk around the whole time, so we did lots of coloring and reading. We got in really late that night and Kiara and Lexi got us from the airport and we stayed at Carly and Mikes.

Oquirrh Mountain Temple

The next morning we went to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple Open House. I was shocked at how close all of the temples and church building are in Utah! It's a gorgeous temple and after we went to Magleby's for lunch. We headed back for a nap then visited Aunt Susan and her family, then out to dinner at Cracker Barrel.

Poor Addie had only had about 7 hours of sleep the night before with pretty much no nap the day before so she was not happy to be at the Temple...

The whole gang, Susan and her kids, Grandma and Grandpa Brimhall, and all of the Haynie's

We went shopping the next day and I got Addie lots of church books, a church movie, and me some wondertees. We got lunch from a really good hamburger place called Chadders or Cheddars... I'm not sure. Anyways, after we went to the park and ate and fed ducks and then headed back for naps. Once the kids woke up they played outside together and Carly made homemade pizza...mmm! That night once the kids were all asleep, Lexi stayed at the apartment and the rest of us went to Red Mango for frozen yogurt. It was so yummy! Oh my gosh, why don't we have anywhere like that here? And it had barely any calories AND was fat free... I am trying to talk Jarom into opening a franchise here. :)

Saturday morning we went to Grandma and Grandpa Brimhalls for brunch and then off to the BYU bookstore for more shopping. We came back, got the kids down for naps then the adults went to PF Changs for dinner. We had a great time at dinner and I got to meet most of the family for the first time. The food was really good and our table did it family style so we all got to try a little of everything, but I was worried about Addie the whole time. She never has stayed with anyone but my mom, sister, or my best friend Ashley who she sees all the time, so I knew she'd not do well since I wasn't there and she wasn't in a familiar place. I was right and Abby said she cried the whole time...sorry Abby! Addie was very glad to see me when we got back and stayed glued to me that evening. We visited Scott and Becca that night and Addie LOVED the cats and bird! She was so excited that the cats would let her pet them because my Uncle Bob's cat doesn't like her to. Sadly I didn't remember to grab my camera that day so I'll have to get Lacey to send me the pictures from dinner.

The next morning was church where Carly and Mike both had to give talks, and did a great job. We got back to their apartment and were locked out so Mike had to break into a second story window to get us in. We ate lunch/dinner at Grandma and Grandpa Brimhall's then headed out to Covered Bridge Canyon so I could see their old home. It was gorgeous! I am so used to all of the green in Alabama, Utah was a real shock for me, but the Canyon home was surrounded by green and was so pretty out there. We came back to Spanish Fork where Grandma and Grandpa Brimhall live and had cake and ice cream to celebrate Mike's and my birthday.

Addie with her Great Grandpa Brimhall and Great Grandma Brimhall at their home in Spanish Fork

On the way to the canyon we saw these... cool huh?

This was the only picture I had of us celebrating birthdays... not the best!

So this post is now extremely long, so I'll reserve the last morning full of pictures for another post!
