Pumpkin Carving

After Addie loved eating the pumpkin guts SO much last year, we really expected her to be into it this year. Nope. She thought it was "nucky" and "ewwwy". She took a carving tool and poked a piece we had cut out over and over. We couldn't get her to even stick her hand in. Oh well. I had fun carving the pumpkin this year!

Addie did pick out the design for the pumpkin. I really thought she'd pick the cats or something sweet but she insisted on the "buggy". Oh well, maybe next year!

Small Successes

Even small successes make me happy. Today I left Addie in nursery during Relief Society by herself and she didn't cry! I peeked in a few times and she was being sassy with a boy that kept poking her, scrubbing the table with a baby wipe, and playing ring around the rosy with great vigor.

I subbed nursery during Sunday school and Addie was being clingy like usual, but then she loosened up! YAY!

Jarom and I both got a new calling...together. Primary. So excited. Can you tell? We will teach the 11 year olds for just a few weeks, and then our permanent class will be the 5 year olds...AKA the rowdy class full of boys that no one can handle well. I hope Addie continues to get more comfortable in nursery so that we can teach these little angels without wrangling Addie at the same time. I was told we were given this call in hopes that the both of us can "man-handle the boys"... Encouraging. This is the third time Jarom and I have been called to teach the 5 year olds in Primary! Once in Harvest, once in Sparkman. Either we aren't getting something right, or we are good with 5 year olds. I'll miss my old calling of almost 4 years...Activity Days. I'm kind of bummed as the first girl to complete the program in our ward in a LONG time isn't quite done... just the bishop's interview left.

And on another note. Addie's new thing to tell me all the time is "No thank you Mommy". This apparently works conveniently for her when I ask things such as "Do you need to come potty?" "Eat your food Addie" and other things that Addie doesn't want to do. Seriously how do you not say "Okay" when she says it so nicely?!

Sunflowers & Trade Day

We had to make an unplanned trip to Nashville about a month ago to get an insurance check for our new roof signed, so Katie agreed to go with us and we made a day of it! We drove up and got the check signed, ate at Cinco de Mayo (where we found out that Addie LOVES spicy salsa, chips, and cheese dip), stopped at Joann's for fabric, and then headed home. On the way, we found acres of sunflowers so we HAD to stop on the way back. Unfortunately it was almost dark, so it was hard to get a good picture, but Addie had so much fun!We also went to Trade Day downtown this year. It was held at Constitution Village this year instead of around the square since the sidewalks are being replaced at the Courthouse. We spent the day shopping the various vendors, and I got Addie some cute hats and bows. My neighbor had a booth selling books and gave Addie The Poky Little Puppy. She was so excited to get it she had to read it right then!

Well these pictures catch me up through mid-September, so I have tons more to do! It will have to wait!

Funnies

Addie says the funniest things lately... Here's a sampling of what my days are like.

This morning
Me: Addie?
Addie: Whatie???
(I can't even remember now what I was going to ask her I was laughing so hard)

In the bathtub a few days ago:
Addie: Mommy, I potty! (what she says when she needs to go)
Me: Okay get up and I'll put you on your potty.
Addie: In a minute Mom! (she says as if she is exasperated, as she goes back to "swimming")

In the car:
Me: singing with the radio
Addie: You si-lly mom!

ALL the time (uses huh and what interchangeably):
Me: Addie can you go do _(whatever)_?
Addie: What?
Me: Addie can you go do ___?
Addie: What???
(Occasionally I'll repeat it a third time and she still says "what?!")
Me: You heard me!!!
Addie: (bursts into giggles)

Whenever Addie realizes she is in my way:
Addie: 'cuse me mom

When I show distress:
Me: ow! (or I sigh)
Addie: okay Mom? (with concern in her voice)

Addie's newest excuse when she doesn't want to do something:
Me: Addie can you go put your doll in your room?
Addie: Mom... I SCEERED!!! (scared)

Seriously?!

Yesterday afternoon I was heading out to Kids Market when Jarom called me and told me to wait due to weather. So I waited and then started out to go again when Jarom calls again and told me he had just been in an accident and that we needed to go to the ER. (Mind you, this is the 2nd time in less than 2 weeks that we have been at the ER for Jarom...)

He was sitting at a red light in Decatur, and looked in his rear view mirror just as the Chevy pickup slammed into his Chevy truck. The guy never even hit his brakes, and was probably going 40 or higher. Jarom started pumping his brakes, but it was no use as the impact slammed him into the Honda in front of him. His neck, back, and head started immediately hurting bad, so we had to go to the ER once he got home. It smashed the back of his truck pretty bad, the bumper and rear panels mashed, pushed the front bumper in, and the impact was so hard it sent his toolbox in the back of his truck sliding and scratched most of the paint off of the bed of the truck.

The guy that hit him never even said a word to Jarom, never asked if he was okay or anything! There happened to be a police officer behind the guy that hit Jarom but he didn't see the accident somehow. The cop was a real jerk to Jarom, being short with him, and wouldn't give him any info about the other guy, if he was insured, or anything. So we HOPE the guy had insurance! The guy was taking pictures, so I really hope so!

So Decatur is full of jerks. No offense if you live there, but seriously, everyone involved couldn't have been ruder to Jarom. We have to drive back Monday to get the accident report.

The truck is drivable so Jarom made it home and I had just finished dinner so we ate and Dad and Bob watched Addie as we went to the ER. Huntsville had about the same wait as Crestwood, so we went there and the place was PACKED of sick nasty people. I tried not to breathe too much! We finally get back to the ER and the doctor that helped Jarom was a social idiot. He says "so you think you broke your neck?" Jarom tells him no and he says "then why are you here?" WHAT?! He just was in a 3 car accident and is in bad pain and you want to know why he is here?! The doctor proceeds with his lovely bedside manner and tells Jarom that he has huge tonsils for an adult and doesn't even order an x ray or ct scan. He says "so what kind of pain meds do you want? Tylenol, ibuprofen, loratab, percocet?" YOU ARE THE DR!! You tell me!

So NOT a good experience in the ER this time. We had such a great experience last time that we were disillusioned. This time was really bad! However we did get out in a total of 2.5 hours, so not horrible waiting times. You have got to love dropping another $300 on ER co pays. Brings the grand total for the last two weeks to $1440 before the 6 prescriptions we have had in 2 weeks, and we HAVE health insurance! This really puts a cramp in my budget for the month!

And as much as it might sound like I am complaining... I really couldn't be happier. I have a wonderful, mostly healthy family. I love my sweet husband and am so glad that he has a job that will provide the money to help us pay for these bills!

Catch Up

I have been taking pictures, but haven't put in the time to edit any lately, so I am so behind!!! These are pictures from August.
Addie fell asleep one afternoon while flipping through an Ensign she picked up while I was cutting coupons... so sweet! We took a trip to the Old McDonald Petting Zoo in Woodville.
This picture made me realize how much they look alike!
Ack!! She kissed the bunny... funny how her eyes are crossed though! The bunnies were Addie's favorite!

Addie really loved feeding the animals!
Here are some of my favorite pictures Alisha took of us in August, I need to print these out!

I found this in the bathroom one day. The doll had been dressed before Addie decided she needed to potty.Addie learned how to do "thumbs up" and was very happy with her turkey sandwich.
Addie LOVES to go to the park. She especially loves making faces in the mirror. And Addie being silly one morning...

Have I mentioned I love this girl?
