Addie is 3!!!

Today my first little princess turns 3! I can't believe it's already been that long. She's such a joy to be around and always can make you smile.

At 3 Addie:

  • LOVES all things pink
  • Loves Dora and Disney Princesses
  • weighs only 24 pounds fully clothed and is barely in a size 2T clothes. She is 35 inches tall. The 2T skirts and jeans literally fall off of her and have to be pinned but are needed for the length.
  • loves to be told stories about Princess Addie, Princess Mommy, Princess Livy, King Daddy, the green dragon and the pink castle.... All in one story. Occasionally she'll ask for Princess Kayke and Princess Grandma too.
  • loves playing on the ipad
  • is extremely opinionated when it comes to what happens in her stories and you get interrupted a thousand times with Addie telling you what to say.
  • is (dare I say it??) night potty trained too, we haven't had an accident in a long time but I still put a pull up on her just in case since....
  • she sleeps in our bed now... something she hasn't done since she was 11 months old...(it started when Livy arrived and Addie realized sissy would be in our room so she quickly abandoned her room and its not worth the fight right now!)
  • Loves her sissy to tears... literally she makes Livy cry with her constant smothering of sugars and loves
  • loves nursery and talks about "Jesus Chwist" and all that he did. She's gotten really good at recalling what she has learned and can tell us all about what she is taught each Sunday.
  • is almost always well behaved when we are out. I always get a wonderful report from nursery about how she is always perfect in there. Makes a momma proud!
  • wears a dress EVERY day... and it is preferably pink. They are always called princess dresses.
  • Loves to pray and gets upset and asks for another prayer if you don't specifically ask for Addie and Livy to be "blessed".
  • picks out her outfit every day, including the bow and shoes (usually I can persuade her to somewhat coordinate everything)
  • loves her big girl panties and can go potty by herself now unless its a bad job, then she calls for back up, haha
  • can dress herself when it comes to pants, panties, dresses, skirts, socks, and shoes, but she still has trouble with shirts.
  • doesn't take a regular nap anymore but doesn't act bad without them, so I don't force the issue and just enjoy the few naps that come from exhaustion!
  • goes to sleep easily now that I don't force naps (it had gotten to be an hour or longer fight)
  • hates to have me brush her teeth. She'd much rather do it herself!
  • is very tender hearted and crumbles into tears if you raise your voice or pop her bum.
  • hates to get in or out of the car by herself and wants me to carry her unless I offer first and then she wants to do it by herself... getting in and out of the car is a major hassle!
  • loves to help me cook and is getting good at telling me what goes in the foods we regularly eat (for example: she knows that if I make muffins we need 2 eggs, oil, and water and tells me to get those things!)
  • helps me clean and vacuum every time I clean... (she thinks her ball popper push toy is a vacuum due to something I might have said just to get her to quit asking for one, so she follows me around the house "vacuuming" too!)
  • she's a huge help with her sister, and is always getting me diapers, wipes, and replacing the paci when it falls out
  • has started embarrassing me with her observations at stores... "momma, she has PINK hair!!! LOOK Momma LOOK!"
  • Is getting better at letter recognition, and sings her ABCs all the time
  • Can almost count to 20, she keeps forgetting 15, 18, or 20.
  • is very shy around people she doesn't know and sometimes around people she does know if its in a situation where she isn't comfortable
  • she is like a little sponge and absorbs everything you say and will repeat it back at different times... we really have to make sure words like "crap" don't slip anymore!!!
  • requests peanut butter on a spoon for all snacks and meals if you ask her what she wants
  • is a good eater! Her favorite things are peanut butter (by the spoon), pizza, steak, salad, chicken nuggets, green beans, peas, carrots, french fries, black olives, milk shakes, chocolate milk, soda, macaroni and cheese, apples, grapes, cookies, grilled cheese, chicken fettucine alfredo, pasta salad, spaghetti with meatsauce, and yogurt.
  • Loves to play with Trevor her friend and her cousins. She still asks for Chase and we haven't seen him since June. On Thanksgiving I told her we were going to go see her cousins (the Mayfields) after lunch with Grandma and Grandpa and Addie got so excited and asked "so we are going to Tulsa to see Nate dogg, Kenny, and Chase???"
  • Doesn't like to wear socks unless it is to bed and removes her shoes whenever we go to anyones house since that is the rule at our house.
  • Loves her baby dolls and pretends to be mommy to them. Most dolls are named "baby Addie"
  • loves all toys little and has a billion tiny animals or babies from Gramps that are always included in her bath, are in her purse, in her pockets, or wherever else she can stash them!
  • loves to look in Gramps shirt pocket because he always has a tiny toy or surprise for her in it... we've had to limit it to once a week because she is always looking in his pocket!
  • helps me to "fold" laundry and knows how to start the washer, dryer, and dishwasher
  • watches as we drive and tells me when to stop and go when the lights change colors. She also recognizes places as we drive and can point out when we are close to Grandma's house, Daddy's work, Kayke's work, the missionaries apartment, church, and Target, haha!
  • Loves to shop and prefers Target and Publix to anywhere else! We can shop all day and as I pull onto our street she begs to go to Star Market (our neighborhood grocery store) just so she doesn't have to call it a night!
  • has gotten really fast and loves to run and jump around everywhere
  • loves to make tents and calls them her house or cave. She's gonna love her princess tent we got her for her birthday and maybe now I can reclaim my blankets and dining room chairs!
  • Doesn't like to be called anything put Addie or princess and will say "i'm not a stinker, I'm Addie" or whatever it is you called her. She also doesn't like to be called a princess unless she is wearing a princess dress and has a bow in her hair.
  • loves to have her toes painted and adorned in nail art and begs for makeup (lip gloss)
  • hangs out with me and my girl friends like she is one of the big girls. She'll add to the conversation and will sit with us for hours while we chat
  • loves to talk on the phone and always interrupts my conversations to add in a comment... we are going to have to start working on interrupting!
  • Asks "Whats that" a billion times a day. If you answer "a blue car" she'll respond "what blue car" and you have to say "the car in front of us" to which she'll say "what car in front of us" and so I usually end up pointing in desperation and when she gets tired of asking me silly questions she'll go "oooohhh ok!"
  • is very good about sticking close when we are out in public. She knows to hold my hand or diaper bag when we are in a parking lot and always stays by my side.
  • loves to copy people, and is more of a follower than a leader when it comes to playing with friends her age, but is more of a leader when playing with me, Jarom, mom, dad, or Katie.

Addie copying Mommy when I was showing my pregnant belly to Jarom

  • loves to pick flowers from the yard
  • loves the attention she gets if she has to have shots. She had to have blood drawn for allergy testing and took it like a champ then asked for shots when Livy had her two month shots because she wanted another princess tattoo.

This is Addie "fake hurt" face...

  • loves all things fancy, especially drinking out of fancy cups
  • loves to have her picture taken
  • loves to draw everyone in the family
  • her people consist of circles with arms, legs, and hair coming out of the circle. The circles have eyes, a nose, and either a smile or frown.
  • Gives the best hugs and kisses and loves to squeeze my neck. She will randomly look at you with love in her eyes and give you a tight hug and kiss and say "I love you Mommy" or "mommy you are boo-ti-ful"... she knows how to melt me into mush!
  • Says lots of funny things and always has us laughing
  • has to tell everyone bye when they leave or hang up the phone or else you have to run after them or call them back to avoid the tears.
  • is the best little girl friend I could ask for. She is so much fun to be around!
I'm sure I'm missing a thousand things but I wanted to write down as much as I could think of at the moment so I won't forget all of the sweet and quirky things she does! We love you Addie and couldn't ask for a sweeter, more loving, beautiful little girl!

Livy's first real bath

Livy's stump finally fell off when she was 3 weeks old so she was able to then have a real bath instead of the sponge baths she'd been getting. For a while Livy had a massive outie belly button but now it is pretty much completely an innie. She loves the water and now showers with me almost every day because it calms her down right before bed.

Scotts Apple Orchard

Another fall tradition that we have is taking a trip to the apple orchard. So the next day (10/7) after the pumkin patch, Mom, Addie, Livy, and I headed out to the apple orchard. On the way there we stopped at Jacks (we had never eaten there) and enjoyed some chicken, burgers, fries, and milkshakes then stopped at the orchard to buy some apples, cider, caramel apples and of course apple slushies! Unfortunately once we got home we found out the apples were terrible this year (really mealy) but the cider and slushies were still great! Again the sling was a lifesaver and no one got too close to my new little Livy, so we were able to avoid germs! After buying all of our apple products we walked out into the orchard to let Addie play for a few minutes and to give us time to finish the slushies. Addie wanted to pick an apple which you probably aren't supposed to do... but we let her anyways. She chose a tiny little apple and was so happy.Mom tossed Addie's apple like a ball and Addie thought it was hi-lar-ious!!! It was a great day, but we sure missed Katie not being there. She had to work. Next year we'll have to be sure to schedule it on a day that Katie is off!

Tate Farms

The entrance to Tate Farms... Addie loved the cow.

The day Livy turned two weeks we took a trip to Tate Farms. Though I hated getting Livy out of the house so early, we didn't want to miss our annual trip to the pumpkin patch, so we loaded the girls up on Jarom's off day and headed out!

Addie insists on holding Livy's hand whenever we are in the car. I kept Livy in the sling the entire time except for a picture, and no one got near, thank heavens! Addie is still a bit of a fraidy cat when it comes to slides... until she rode the huge tube slide with Jarom, then wanted to slide it on her own! Impressive! Unfortunately this old guy was at the bottom of the slide and didn't move in time for me to catch Addie's picture at the bottom.
A genuine Addie smile, she loved the moving balance beam!Addie LOVED the bunnies. She picked out the white one and sat so still loving on the bunny until the bunny finally had enough! We learned last year that Addie adores pumpkin slushies, so this year she got her own since she didn't want to share last time! She drank the whole thing.
The girls weren't in the mood for pictures...haha

We had a great time again and will remember next year to eat lunch before we go, because lunch there was outrageously pricey! Sheesh.

Livy's first 2 weeks

The first week Livy was home from the hospital she slept like a champ... it was wonderful. And I thought being a Mom to two was EASY... It didn't last.

Livy all dressed up after our first outing at one week old. We needed diapers! Jarom was off that day so we drug him along to help out! After the first week home Livy had her days and nights mixed up and would only sleep at night for more than a few minutes if she was in the bed with me. So all four of us slept in the bed for a few nights until I couldn't take it anymore!

When I saw Livy sleeping like this I remembered Addie in the same position at about the same age so I had to snap a picture!
LivyAddieLivy doesn't like tummy time... so big Sis was trying to make her happy. Addie had just gone potty and she likes to get nudy booty when she goes... haha!

Livy is definitely our snuggle bug! She loves to be held close. Now time to get busy playing catch up on the blog!

Livy's birthday

Sullivan "Livy" Ann Haynie
Born September 22, 2010 6:15 PM
6 lbs 9 oz and 20" long

Wednesday September 22nd I had my second doctor visit for the week with Dr. Nix to check my progress. I went in and was still at 3 cm and 80% but Livy was a little lower so the doctor suggested inducing again. He asked how I was feeling (not well) and I had to admit I hadn't slept in several days due to discomfort. He asked me what I was waiting on (my house projects to be completed) and said the baby would just get bigger. He guessed the baby was weighing 6lbs 4-8 oz and made another good point that I had to have stitches last time with a 6 lb 2 oz baby. So I finally let him send me to the hospital to be induced despite not even having our bassinet out of the attic.
38 weeks 5 days pregnant, at the hospital to have Livy!
I ran by the house and threw a few things in a bag for me (Livy's diaper bag was packed) and picked up Jarom, leaving Addie with Grandma. We got to the hospital around 12:30 pm and back to a room around 1 pm. By the time we were changed and paper work was completed it was about 1:30 pm. The nurse tried to start my IV and blew two veins in the process causing me to shed big crocodile tears from the nausea it caused. I asked for another nurse and they found the nurse that delivered Addie for me and she finally got my IV in after some digging... ouch!

No sooner than they could hang the bag of pitocin on the IV stand Dr. Nix arrived to break my water. It didn't hurt as bad as with Addie and the nurse suggested I have regular contractions before I got my epidural. Pretty soon I was feeling some serious pain with my contractions but they weren't really registering on the monitor and looked like tiny anthills. I was feeling like a weak sauce when the nurse came in asking if I was even having contractions so I told her I was, just lower than the monitor. She moved the monitor and immediately the little anthill contraction jumped off the page. I was finally able to get my epidural around 3:15 pm, relief! The same doctor that did my epidural with Addie did it again this time, and was so nice to come do it when his shift had just ended.

The nurse checked and I was at 4 cm around 5 pm. She had me lay on my back and within about 20 minutes I was feeling some pain. The nurse checked me again and I was 6 cm with Livy at 0 station and she felt Livy's finger on her head! So she had me roll to my left side and gave me another bag of medicine for my epidural. She left the room and within about two minutes I was feeling some serious pressure and I told Jarom I thought it was time. He wanted to get the nurse but I wanted to make sure, so I waited about 10 minutes until I was positive it was time and had Jarom go get her right then! She came in and said I was probably only 8 and was just transitioning and I told her no, I was pretty sure I was 10, because it felt like it did with Addie. I had her check me and sure enough I was complete and baby was ready to come!

I asked if I could do little pushes until Dr. Nix arrived to help with the pain so they were going to let me until I laughed and almost had the baby right then, haha! Dr. Nix arrived a few minutes after 6 pm and told me to do a practice push while he got suited up but quickly changed his mind when they got me in the position to do so, so he quickly got ready and we got started! 4 1/2 pushes and 2 contractions later and we had our little angel! She let out a yell until I snuggled her close and then she was content. Oh and happy side fact... no stitches for me this time, woohoo! Made recovery SO much easier!
Our first Family of 4 pictureDr. Nix with Livy
Livy was a 9/10 on the apgar test and managed to pee on Dr. Nix and then on me. She was covered in vernix and Dr. Nix said she was really "cheesy" and he ended up super messy between the blood, pee, and vernix. I was telling Mom about it once she came into the L&D room and apparently Addie heard it. Addie told Jarom the next morning when he was making her breakfast and asked if she wanted cheese on her eggs "sissy loves cheese and ate cheese in mommy's tummy all the time and got it all over her face, that's silly!"
Addie checking out Livy for the first timeLivy's first morning

Livy hated her first bath just like her big sis did. We came home from the hospital Friday night with Livy weighing 6 lbs 3 oz and a juandice level of 8. Dr. Cochran, the girls pediatrician was happy with her weight so our first doctor visit was scheduled for Sunday. We picked up Addie on the way home from the hospital and she thought it was so great to have sissy next to her. She insisted on holding Livy's hand and still does EVERYtime we get in the car no matter how long the drive. The other day she said "mom, my arm is tired!" so I told her to let go of Livy's hand but she insisted that Livy wanted her to hold her hand.At the visit Livy still weighed 6 lbs 3 oz and her jaundice was at 12 so we didn't have to go back for two weeks. At her two week appointment she was weighing in at 6 lbs 11 oz and was 20.25 inches long, so we don't go back until her two month visit.

Livy was a champ sleeper that first week with the exception of Friday night. She slept in 5 hour stretches and the last good night we got a 6.5 hour stretch in! She then decided she was done spoiling me (her jaundice wore off) and we've been on 3 hour stretches since except for two nights which were AWFUL. Just as I was at my whits end the last bad morning after being up with Livy for 5 hours and only having 3 hours of sleep I held her up to my face and said "why are you doing this to me? why don't you sleep???" and Livy looked at me then gave me the biggest smile yet. Ah little stinker already knows how to melt mommy's heart! Last night we got a 5 hour stretch so I am happy!
One of Livy's first asleep smiles

Livy is a great eater and is chubbing up fast. She won't really take a pacifier yet for more than a minute or two and the ONLY paci she will take at all is a soothie because that is what they gave her at the hospital. I love the way Nuks look and you can buy them anywhere...but Livy will have nothing to do with them so I finally gave in and my friend picked Livy up some soothies. Sigh.

Addie has been a super big sister. She will sit and hold Livy and love on her forever. Livy gets covered in kisses and hugs all day and I have to remind Addie all the time to let Livy sleep. Addie wants to always be holding Livy's hand or touching her. Addie is a little momma and gets her sissy fresh diapers, wipes, cream, or anything I ask her for all the time. I'm proud of Addie for doing so well with change! The main issue we've had is sleeping arrangements... The first night home from the hospital Addie wheeled the bassinet into her room, so I had to explain that sissy needed to sleep near me, so since then Addie has been in our bed. Luckily our new king sized bed came in a few weeks ago, so we aren't too cramped. The only other issues have just been Addie wanting me to help her do things she did on her own before such as putting on her shoes, helping her pee in the potty, getting her panties and pants on, etc. She also wants to be carried a lot now, which isn't easy when holding a newborn, but we've figured it out now and I do it all the time to keep meltdowns at bay. Addie has truly been great though.

A few other fun facts...
Livy LOVES real baths. She hated the sponge baths, but is all about some time in the water. She especially loves showers with Daddy and fell asleep in the shower Sunday. She even likes for me to wash her hair under the sink... and coos. Addie HATED that.
After her first sponge bath at home
Livy screams more than she cries... she lets out little short yells until you do what she wants unless she gets really upset, and then she cries with big crocodile tears.

She only poops big once a day... she saves it all for night then blows out the diaper and anything around... I made the mistake of taking off the diaper when I thought she was done at 3 AM Wednesday night and ended up with poo on me from my lap to my chin and it dripping off my hands, arms, shirt, and pants. Livy was dripping in it from her waist down... I let out a yelp when it happened and woke Jarom so he got to assist in the clean up efforts. Nights are never dull in the Haynie house now.

Livy is very ticklish and squirms all over the place if you touch her feet.

She hates being wiped with wipes around the front... talk about major screaming!

She loves to sleep on your chest... and will snooze on Daddy all day. We found that out the fun way a few weeks ago and we had two really bad nights!

Her eyes are really blue, I wonder if they'll darken up.

She hates having her arms swaddled at night.

She had a huge outie belly button when she was born and even once her umbilical cord fell off (at 2.5 weeks) but it has been shrinking the last few weeks and is almost an innie now!

She makes a laughing noise every time she goes to nurse, it is like she's SO happy to be getting fed.
And if anyone knows Jarom you know this is his favorite hobby and this picture cracked me up.

Well hope you hung in for this monster of a post... we love and adore Livy and can't imagine life without her. She's so perfect and my heart is bursting with love for our new little angel.
P.S. Look below for my baby sprinkle post!
