Greenway Picnic

The week before last was spring break and the Haynie's came to town. We had a blast over the week, with an especially fun day at the greenway in Madison.

I love that Nuna plays right along with all of the kids.

Hayley and Addie

I love this picture... especially because of Emma's dirty bum.

PS. See below for the pictures from later that day.

Later that day...

We went back to the Haynie's house and Chase and Addie played the rest of the afternoon together. They were so cute together!

They were both exhausted and Addie crawled up on the air mattress and Chase joined her then covered them both up. Then they got silly again and didn't end up napping, but it was sweet anyways.

Faker

Addie has taken to fake crying... It is so silly. This is her trying to force out some tears. It makes me laugh. Not what she's going for I'm sure.

PS. My fantastic intelligent hubby fixed my blog's HTML so my pictures aren't cropped, yay!

Help?

When I am trying to post bigger pictures, I'm having trouble with the landscape pictures being cropped on the right side... See how the whole right of the picture vanished? Does anyone know how to fix it? I tried to edit my layout HTML and fixed it, but ended up with my sidebar disappearing. I'm going to enlist hubby's help when he gets home because he is much more computer savvy than I...

Doctor Visit

I visited the doctor today for my puking problem. I had another episode last Thursday and then one again this morning. It seems that my gallbladder isn't functioning properly and so the bile builds up until it can't hold anymore and then my body gets rid of it by making me sick. Gross I know. My doctor did a few tests in office then sent me for more blood work today and an ultrasound of it is going to be scheduled tomorrow. If they don't find any gallstones (which he doubts they will find any) then I will go for a function test to see how well if at all my gallbladder is functioning. From there he said my options are to have my gallbladder removed or just keep on puking. So that is where I am with all of that... I am so ready to be done with the pukes! The tiny silver lining is that since I'm having the sick mornings more often it doesn't last nearly as long as it was when it was happening about every month to six weeks, so by 11 AM today I felt good again and ate a fantastic dinner Mom made!

Mexican Meatzza and Fruit Pizza

So I have found two new favorite recipes that are QUICK and EASY! I must share because they were a hit!

Mexican Meatzza
a Rachel Ray made easier by me

1 lb ground beef
1 packet taco seasoning
1 small diced onion
cornbread
sliced green olives (I used about half a jar)
1 red bell pepper diced
1 small can of green chilies drained
1 diced seeded tomato
lots of shredded cheese

Make cornbread in a large skillet (10-12 in.) and cook 10 minutes in oven. Meanwhile, brown your ground beef, and cook onion with it. Drain, add taco seasoning per directions and let simmer. When cornbread is done, top with seasoned meat and cover with cheese. Add all of veggie toppings and bake in oven at same temp as cornbread for about 5 minutes longer.

The whole thing takes less than 30 minutes to make and is SO filling and good! It makes 8 big slices and Jarom and I could each only eat one slice. I added a can of corn for a side item and some chocolate milk... mmm mmm good!

Fruit Pizza

1 roll of pre-made sugar cookie dough
1 regular jar of marshmallow cream
1 regular bar of cream cheese softened
1/2 bag of chocolate chips or 3 squares of bakers chocolate
fruit of your choice- I used strawberries, blueberries, and bananas

Roll cookie dough onto cookie sheet and cook per directions on dough. Mix together marshmallow cream and cream cheese and set aside. Cut up large fruit. Once cookie is done and cooled, spread cream mixture over entire cookie. Melt chocolate. Cover cookie with diced fruit. Drizzle chocolate over fruit and let harden.

Note: The only thing I didn't like was how the bananas tasted the next day on the pizza. They had that sickly sweet taste/smell. Next time if the pizza won't be eaten all in one day I'll skip bananas and do kiwi!

Jarom's birthday and Addie stuff

Happy 26 Jarom!

Jarom celebrated his 26th birthday Wednesday. He is in denial and keeps saying he's 25... He claims he'll be 25 for a few more years. He also realized 30 is just around the corner and gave me a deadline... no more kids after 30. Lucky for me, he and I only plan for one more baby, so that gives me plenty of time to wait! He is getting a Vitamix (that's what he wanted) when they come to Costco on the 27th and I got him an iron brand that has JH on it so he can brand our grilled meats, wood, the dogs (JUST KIDDING!!), whatever he feels the need to add his initials to. Its pretty cool actually. It was custom ordered, so it didn't come in in time for Wednesday but we expect it in the mail today or tomorrow. The J&H are combined so it looks like a really fancy H, so he is excited to start leaving his mark on everything. Jarom also got a laptop last month, that was supposed to be his birthday gift, but apparently I am a softie.

Jarom had to go to church that night so while he was gone I fixed him a big birthday feast. I grilled bacon wrapped fillets (and added hickory chips so they had a smoked flavor-YUM), made candied carrots, baked potatoes, fried onion and aussie sauce, and baked him a cake. Don't laugh at my cake, I was in a hurry and the icing decided to make a run for it. We were stuffed!
Addie learned how to blow out candles

Addie playing with the potato peeler gloves Jarom got gypped into buying. I was cleaning out cabinets and found them, added them to our rummage sale pile and Addie just HAD to wear them...
I love Addie's age right now! We have so much fun during the day. She copies everything I do and has to "help" all the time. She hands me toilet paper while I potty, she flushes for me, helps me clean carpet (with my new carpet steamer, woohoo!), picks up her toys when I ask her to (most of the time), and she loves to hand me everything... (she grabs anything and everything in the room and brings it to me).

She is saying lots of new words, puppy, bunny, bum, bird, ball, purple, blue, and has perfected her "hot". At the home show at the VBC this past weekend, we walked by some fireplaces that had a fire going and she said "mamamamamamamama HOT HOT HOT". Whenever she wants my attention, she repeats mama over and over and over again until I give her my undivided attention. She things anything and everything that is round is a ball, and loudly proclaimed over and over at my insurance agents office (while we discussed adding more life insurance) that the wheels on the end of the chair were in fact balls. At the grocery store they had a huge bin of balls (they do it just to torture the parents I'm sure) and Addie desperately needed one. I ended up giving in and that $1.47 has been very well spent. It is one of her favorite toys (this might be in part because daddy insists on bouncing it off of the walls, cabinets, her head, whatever is around- much to her glee). Addie also loves to call people. She presses buttons then says "heyyo heyyo" "whaudoingggggg" (what are you doing?). She also has started to say "thayyou" but not as often as I wish she would!
My uncle Bob who lives next door (Addie calls him Bobby... hehehe) took a trip with us to a different park on Saturday and we found that they had baby swings, several slides and was apparently Addie's new favorite place to play. She ran all over the place and actually did pretty well on the mulch playground. I was worried because it was such an uneven surface, but when Addie fell, she quickly would dust off her hands and would be back running in a second. She has definitely gotten tougher when it comes to falling. She did not want to leave when it was time to go, and the only way I got her away without tears was to let her walk beside the stroller. Finally she wore down and let me put her in the stroller and she fell asleep on the rest of the way home.
I think Addie has sadly outgrown bubble suits, I dreamt of a summer full of them, but she had to go grow up...
It's funny how something simple like a stick completely stops Addie in her tracks... She first sees it, stops to inspect it, then satisfied, moves on... Ah, my little Sherlock.

Addie dusting her hands off after a fall She plays so hard now that she really wears herself out and has been sleeping 11 hours straight. She falls asleep eating lunch more often now, but somehow manages to eat and snooze. She doesn't want to take a nap before lunch but as soon as I set her down to eat, she starts getting droopy eyed. It is so funny to watch her. Her eyes are shut, and she just blindly pats around on her tray until she finds something, shoves it in her mouth and repeats. She does so until she is full (I guess) and then I'll transfer her to bed.

Here is her eating/snoozing... The other night I gave her a bottle, put her in her bed (which is next to mine), (don't judge!) and I laid down to go to sleep. Jarom and I were whispering about something and Addie sits up and says "I wo up" (I woke up).... Oh brother!!! I said "No you didn't, lay down!" and we tried to stifle our giggles while she laid back down and pretended to sleep. Ah my child is a booger!

Since Addie is showing so much interest in the potty, we are going to go buy her a potty today and some big girl panties. We will work on her "potty awareness" for a few months (since she's only 15 months), letting her sit on her potty while I do, letting her try on her big girl panties and such, just let her get comfortable with the whole idea, and then tackle the training part hopefully after. She loves to show me where her peepee and poopoo come from when I ask her, tugs on her diaper and hides to go poop, so I thought this might be the next step. She hates getting her diaper changed, and I really hate buying and changing diapers, and I realize things will probably not go as planned, but I am still blissfully naive and hope for the best. Don't burst my bubble!
Other than that, things have been pretty uneventful. I came down with another stomach bug last week Wednesday for 2 days miserable and then better on the third, perfect on the 4th day. Jarom caught a touch of it late one night, but luckily felt better when he woke up the next day and Addie managed to escape it. We finally recovered from our colds/RSV/sinus infections, and are feeling pretty good. Hopefully the weather will warm soon and we will have lots of outdoor time and can keep away from the germs. The Haynie's are traveling here from Tulsa today and will visit until the following Sunday so we are excited to see them and to see how much little Davis has grown! I've already stocked up on some food for dinner, so we are ready to party!

5 Fun Facts

The objective is to list 5 Fun Facts about yourself. They can be anything you want.

1. Like Cari, I too am severely addicted to cleaning wipes. My preference is the Kirkland brand because the one with the green lid smells amazing! If I can't manage a trip to Costco, I settle for Clorox wipes. I use them to clean EVERYTHING... floor, counter tops, oven, sink, table, toilet seat and sides, for dusting, you get the idea... If I get down to 2 containers, I HAVE to buy another pack.

2. I am very ritualized... (if that is a word). I have to take a shower in the same order (shampoo, conditioner, shave armpits, wash body, shave legs, dry off the same way... I do my makeup the same way every day, clean the same way, Addie's night ritual is the same. I can't help it, I used to even eat my food one food at a time, but have forced myself to overcome that. I also check the doors at least 2 times, usually 3 before I go to bed, and will leave a store to check if I locked the car, just in case! OCD? maybe a little... :)

3. Jarom thinks I'm insane because I HATE going to bed with a messy house, it seriously makes me crazy. If I do, the next day just starts out bad and I am in a grouchy mood. I love my house to be clean... not psycho clean... just picked up, vacuumed, and dusted. (If I had the time, my house would be psycho clean).

4. I love outdoors! I love the sun beating down on me, the smell of fresh cut grass, the smell of outdoor grills cooking, it is my heaven! I love to sleep with windows open to hear the cicadas and the mourning doves. I can't wait until warmer weather and am ecstatic we are going to have a warm weekend!

5. I love going... anywhere. I think I take after Mimmie my grandmother. They used to call her "Bye" because whenever anyone was going anywhere, she asked to go with them. I love to run errands with people, I love to shop, play outside, whatever. I hate to be cooped up in the house, but do love coming home in the evenings after a full day.

Okay, so now I tag...EVERYONE!

Born 2 Impress GUEST GIVEAWAY!!!!

Born 2 Impress GUEST GIVEAWAY!!!!

Funnies

Last night Jarom and I chaperoned a youth dance in Madison. Mom and Dad watched Addie for us, and after the dance we went out to dinner with Nate and Alisha.

At the dance, Jarom had walked off to find a ride for one of the kids, and Nate and Alisha were dancing, so I was just standing off to the side waiting on Jarom. I see one of the boys from Alisha's ward approaching me, but figured he would ask me to watch his jacket or something like that. Instead he nervously asked "Would you like to dance?" I had a hard time not bursting out laughing, but informed him that I was a chaperon and was married, but thanked him. He turned a bright shade of red and apologized then bolted. Nate, who never misses an opportunity to embarrass someone, teased the boy once he found out who he was, but the kid took it well. Nate said I should have gone out to dance with him, then when he started asking what school I went to, etc., tell him "Oh that's my husband over there!" Haha! It certainly made my day, I have been feeling the frump lately!

Addie has taken to calling everyone Mama lately! If she wants your attention she'll loudly call "mama...mama...mama...mama...mama" until you give her your undivided attention. Mom said that at the grocery store last night, Addie called everyone Mama, much to their amusement.

Addie has also really decided what she likes and doesn't like. She will shake her head no so hard if I even ask her if she wants something that she doesn't want. It frustrates me at times because she'll think she doesn't want something that she's never tried before. I'll have to hold her down to make her try it, and then she'll suddenly love it and want more more more. She really cracks me up.

She also has been making pooting sounds and will then look around and say "Uh OH!". She then will grin really big. Oh the things her daddy teaches her!
