Bath Songs

Addie sings and talks gibberish in the tub every day. She gets to talking so fast we don't understand a word she says. We got rid of a lot of her bath toys out of necessity for foot room and so Addie's imagination has really taken off with the few toys she has in the tub. She names all of her fish and other toys Gam-ma, Gampa, Aunt Kayke, Uncle Scott, Mom, Dad, and Addie. She made me "cupcakes", juice, etc. in the tub with her water and cup yesterday. Addie loves to make up songs now too. When she finishes up with a song she always asks me "do you like/luff my song mom?" Addie is so excited about her baby "sis-tuh". She's told me for months now that it was a "giwl baby" and not a "boyyy baby" and it looks like she's right! She tells me what her and her baby sistuh are going to do and how she's going to help. I have a feeling Addie is going to be a very "hands on" big sister... oh boy. Here are a few videos from tonight's bath.

Addie is a ham and wants to see everything I take on my camera.

Speaking of ham... I have been desperately craving boiled/baked ham, deviled eggs, southern style green beans, and mac n cheese. I wonder if I can talk Mom into a big Sunday dinner anytime soon... ;)

Results are in and...

the voters (and ultrasound) ruled...
It's another girl!!!
She waved hi to us... (look at her perfect little hand!!!)
And here is her looking right at you... kinda skeleton scary, but she only weighs 6 ounces right now!

I wanted to make sure baby cooperated for the ultrasound since this one was being paid for out of pocket so I drank half a yoohoo and ate a few sour gummy worms. While we had the ultrasound she was wiggling, moving her arms and legs all around, opening and closing her hands, and gulping in fluid like crazy! She really put on a show! Addie was never that "excited" in ultrasounds so we might have a rowdy one on our hands!

Last week at a sick dr visit, her heart rate was 170! She obviously is very active. I've been feeling her move for a few days now, now large movements but I feel little thuds and it feels like she is rolling over sometimes.

She still is measuring a week small according to my cycle, so we have adjusted my due date to October 8th instead of the 1st. (I was due Dec. 8th with Addie and had her on Nov. 30)

She looks good and healthy, everything seems to be developing right. We will go back in three weeks for another ultrasound and for my 20 week check up to get all the spine and heart measurements and such. And to double verify its a girl! The tech said she has only been wrong twice and both times it was at 16 weeks when she said girl and at 20 weeks they found boy. So not 100% sure its a girl, but it looks that way to me!

Vote!!! Boy or girl???

So my Mom LOVES to bet on things. Not for money, just fun! So she wanted to start a bet on what baby 2 was the other day and no one would join in on the fun with her. So I've added a poll to the right of my blog. Vote!!! We find out the sex of baby 2 on Tuesday! I'll let you know what the real result is then! :)

Easter Sunday

Addie running to see what the Bunny brought her!
The goods. Addie is really into gardening right now so the bunny brought her gardening tools, grow your own flowers/tomatoes, a watering pot, some books, bubbles, chalk, candy, a barking dog toy, duck bunny bath toy, and other fun things that Addie loves.

Inspecting it all before it got torn in to.

Addie loved hunting eggs! She found all 24 the Bunny hid!

Easter Sunday was extra special this year as it fell on Conference Sunday. We got up, Addie went through her basket, hunted eggs the bunny hid, and then we made a huge breakfast. The Mazanis' and Bob joined us for a breakfast of biscuits and jam, cinnamon bites, eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, fruit salad, and orange juice and we all piled on the couches to watch conference. After the morning session we headed to Mom and Dad's for our Easter dinner (or supper as Dad tells me it is supposed to be called) of Mimmie's fried chicken (which is the best fried chicken in the WORLD), southern green beans, and yeast rolls, Aunt Pam made some fabulous deviled eggs (that included olives... Addie and my favorite!), Mom made mac and cheese, corn, fruit salad, jello eggs, mini cheesecakes, dirt cups, and strawberry shortcake... YUM. I got off easy by only having to bring oreos for dirt cups and grapes. We had a great meal then everyone headed out to the back yard for the massive egg hunt Mom put on. Mom hid about 200 eggs in the yard (boiled ones had numbers which corresponded to a prize, golden eggs had large prizes- movie tickets, and the plastic eggs had candy). Jarom got movie tickets, I got a gift card to Bruster's Ice Cream, and Addie made a haul of other little toys. After the egg hunt the boys played horse shoes out in the yard while Addie, Grandma, Aunt Pam, and I played with bubbles. Mimmie and the rest of the crew were too busy going through their loot from the hunt! ;) We had a really great time and I was so mad when I realized that I forgot... MY CAMERA!!! Arg!

It was a wonderful Easter!

And I had to include this one. I boxed up a lot of unneeded things for right now to go in storage while we show our house and had the boxes stacked in a corner in the living room for Jarom to take to his truck. Addie turned it into her "toy house" and set up all of her favorite toys and barbies in their new home. Love her imagination! Notice they are all in the "sitting" position. I think the child had a bit of an OCD side too...

Out of order

Addie and I both have been hit hard by allergies. We are miserable! I check the "pollen" forecast each day and it is at the highest level... ick. Everything is covered in yellow. This morning when Addie woke up she said to me "Mom... My nose not working!!!!"

Don't I know it!

Miss Sassafrass

Addie longs to be a "big" girl! More and more I see her being stubborn about the way she wants things. What she wears, what bow goes in her hair, and her shoes all have to be picked by her. I've stuck to my guns on giving her a choice between 2 of my choices because she'd be wearing some ridiculous things out otherwise! Addie has to wear her sunglasses if I do, she wants to carry a purse, eat her food in the same way I do (she insisted on mustard-so I insisted on a bib, a sandwich with 2 pieces of bread instead of one folded in half, etc). She is using the big potty now, even public potties which is a huge step in the big girl direction for her. Her little bjorn potty was getting to be ridiculously too small. Addie insists on doing the whole potty routine by herself. I keep forgetting to buy a little step stool so she can get up on the pot by herself as that is a touchy thing with her... she doesn't want my help with anything potty related and gets really upset when I insist on helping with well... you know... certain potty times. I have got to get her out of pull ups though when we are out in public. Just the thought of pee all over my groceries has kept me buying them.

Friday night we went to the Alabama Vipers first home game. We bought season tickets again this year, and we are back to our front row seats which we love but are not going to be able to get next year when we have to buy another seat! We bought dinner there because my nap went a little too long and we had to leave as soon as we woke up, and Addie insisted on carrying her own pizza to her chair too. Addie got really into the game the second we got there and danced, clapped, and cheered the whole time. The cheerleaders pass around stickers for under the kids eyes so they can be like those on the team, and Addie got really excited about hers... There were a few bigger girls sitting next to us who had them, so Addie needed to be like them. The Vipers won and it was a great game.

We go out to the car and found that Jarom had left the lights on (which is really hard to do when the lights are automatic...) so we had to get a jump. When we finally made it home, I got Addie changed in her pjs and she refused to let me take off her sticker. The only way I could bribe it off of her was to take a picture of her first and then to "save" the sticker for the next day. Luckily the sticker got "lost" that night! Oh and notice her pink polka dotted sparkly toe nails... she is really excited to show them off.

Coloring Eggs

The Thursday before Easter Sunday (April 1) we went to Mom's to color Easter eggs with Jarom, Mom, Dad, Katie, and Scott. I even coerced Cyndi to come along since it was our usual "girls night/shot in my rear". Addie enjoyed it last year, but ruined an outfit so this time I was prepared with a hand me down shirt that will never fit Addie before it gets too short on her. Addie was so excited all day she was about to pop by the time we got to Grandma's. She couldn't even eat dinner she was so excited.

Look at her excitement!
Addie dropped this egg, but a sticker made it "all better".
LOVE this girl!
The next morning the eggs were dry enough to move to the basket. Addie wanted me to take a picture of her...
Addie being "careful"

Admiring the egg
We had a great time and I look forward to next year when we have two sets of little hands in the dye!

March

March was a hard month for me. Between the progesterone shots making me feel pretty crummy, first trimester exhaustion, and trying to get our house on the market, I didn't end up doing too much.

We celebrated Jarom's 27th birthday on March 11th with a low key evening with just the three of us per his request. We ordered pizza, ate cake and ice cream and Jarom opened his gifts from us. He got the nice leather jacket he's been wanting, Mulan on DVD (he sings songs from it constantly so it was a gift from Addie), a video game (COD), and some nice dress shirts and dress socks. I bought a few trick candles for Jarom's cake because candles come in packs of 24 so I needed a few extra and wouldn't you know it... they turned out to be not very tricky at all. I guess the trick was on me!

Addie pulls out her princess/party hat whenever there is birthday cake... how cute is she?

On the 13th we went out to dinner with the Mazanis' and Bruce's to celebrate the 3 boys' birthdays. Ron's is almost two weeks before Jarom's, and John's is four days after Jarom's. We ate at Carraba's and had a fantastic evening. Mom watched Addie while we had dinner, then dropped her off at the mall and we went and had her ears pierced. Addie had been asking to get her "head pierced" for weeks so Jarom and I finally decided it was time. They didn't have two people working, so they had to do one ear at a time, so she cried a little after the second ear until they showed her her new earrings in the mirror. She is so proud of them!
This picture was from my phone that night and I keep forgetting to get a good picture of her new earrings.

On the 14th after church we celebrated Jarom's birthday with the family. Unfortunately Katie got a stomach virus, so we quickly switched it to my house, and we had planned poorly because Scott was at the beach for spring break. So it was a little get together, but we still had a great time. Mom made steak fajitas and a homemade cake for Jarom. Jarom LOVES Mom's homemade cakes. Jarom got a really nice tie for his new suit he was having a hard time matching, shirt, more earbud covers for his headphones he got for Christmas, an itunes gift card, lots of cards from family and Breck, and a card with money from Grandma Haynie. He ended up with a pretty good loot...err...birthday! Thanks everyone!
Addie again pulled out her hat for cake! Addie had her first pedicure in March. I was in desperate need of one after winter and Addie loves to get her toes painted, so I took her along and Aunt Katie to help, and we all had pedi's. I sat Addie in my lap and she put her feet in the water too. She picked out her own paint (pink of course) and they painted her toes, rubbed lotion on her legs, and added sparkles to her polish. She loved every second of it! We went back two weeks later for a polish change and Addie sat up in her own chair while they painted her toes, haha! Everyone there carries on about how funny it is to see such a little girl act so big! I don't normally get regular pedicures, but since painting my toes is getting harder each day and Jarom doesn't want to paint them, I have been splurging a little! After getting her pedi, I got her in her pjs and pulled her hair up and she insisted I take some pictures... what a ham!

We had a fun St. Patrick's Day on the 17th. Mom took Addie to the library for story time while I worked around the house some, then I met them for lunch at Chick-fil-a followed by some shopping. Addie got a backpack to carry her library books in and she is so proud to wear it!

I had another monthly check up with Dr. Nix on the 23rd and I got to hear the baby's heart beat on the little doppler this time! Baby's heart rate was 160 this time, so maybe baby was asleep last time? I'm interested to see what this baby is! We scheduled an early ultrasound for April 27th to hopefully find out the gender! I can't wait!

Addie on her trike for one of our after dinner walks.

Jarom took a backpacking trip with Dad, Scott, Uncle Bob, and our two dogs plus Dad's dog the last weekend in March. Jarom bought lots of backpacking equipment without really knowing if he liked backpacking but he really enjoyed the trip so I'm glad it wasn't a waste of money! He'll definitely be going again! The night he was gone, Mom, Addie, and I picked up some dinner to go, rented a few movies, then ate dinner upstairs picnic style in the floor while we watched movies, and had a fun girls night. We spent the night with Mom and Katie to get Addie slowly accustomed to sleeping at Grandma's since she'll have to at least the two nights we'll be in the hospital with baby 2! It was a fun end to our month!

P.S. Check out my February post below!

February Happenings

One of the many snows this winter...

We started February with a trip to the circus on the 4th. I hadn't been in years and Addie had never been, so we got tickets as did the rest of the family and headed that way. I didn't think about Jarom being on crutches when I ordered the tickets and our seats were in the lower mezzanine but it still meant lots of stairs. We took Addie down to the pre-show event and she loved getting a "tattoo". The circus was a blast! I think the adults enjoyed it as much as Addie did.

Crazy what the guys in the circus could do!

We joined a new club on the 9th, the Madison County Young Republicans and enjoy going to the monthly meetings with Ashley and John, and Victoria and Ron. Though I might not be as much "in" to politics as Jarom and the guys, we have a fun time eating and chatting. Now that I think about it, it was actually that day in February that we bought the truck. Jarom had borrowed a truck from work until that point, and they needed the truck back because they hired someone that would be driving it. We had to rush out early to finish signing truck papers, but still had a great time at the meeting.
We got even more snow in February... I have lost track of how many snows we had this winter that stuck, but we played outside a bit each time. We finally got around to making a snow man this time on the weekend of the 8th and good thing because we didn't have a snow that stuck much after that! Addie got really into making the snowman... It's kinda pitiful, but we got outside after most of the snow had melted. The Thursday before Valentines Day Mom had a Ladie's party at her house with Aunt Joan, Aunt Pam, Katie, Addie, and I. We had lasagna, salad, bread, and some yummy desserts. They played chicken scratch after but I had an appointment and had to run out. It was fun start to Valentine's activities though and Addie especially loved getting heart shaped everything!

We "celebrated" Valentines day as a family this year and I made a steak dinner at home (which I couldn't eat due to silly pregnancy gags- I can't cook raw meat and then eat it) that included steak, sweet potatoes, Caesar salads and bread followed by chocolate covered strawberries and some other dessert that I'm sure I'll remember in the middle of the night tonight! Jarom brought home Addie her first rose in her favorite color and she LOVED that flower to death. Poor thing was so beat up by the time I snuck it into the trash! She really was so excited over that flower.
On Sunday the 14th we had our annual family Valentine's Day party at Mom's house with Italian food and cake. Yum. Addie really enjoyed making Valentine cards for everyone!
This is Addie's "Princess" outfit... She picked it out by herself and wears it often!
On the 23rd I had my first ultrasound! Baby had a very strong heartbeat, at 145 (I think) which is lower than what Addie's was (163) so maybe baby 2 is a boy? We'll see! It was comforting to see baby and to confirm there was only 1! Baby was measuring a little small (a week behind) but I am sure of my "start" date in December (who could forget Christmas day... ick!!) so Dr. Nix said we'll keep the due date at October 1 instead of October 6th. Fine by me! Addie was born 8 days early so maybe baby 2 will be a September baby.

We celebrated Mom's 53rd Birthday the Friday before the big day at Mimmie's house with a big Roper family party. We had a great time eating Mimmie's famous cheeseburgers. Man they are so good! I forgot my camera, but Mom got lots of cute pictures of Addie with her cousins, Laura and Layla. Uncle Dan taught Addie to play "pretend" with pretend kitties and Addie is constantly bringing me pretend kitties and babies now. It was good to catch up with everyone while celebrating the birth of my momma! On the 27th (Mom's actual birthday) we celebrated with dessert at their house. We had a fun time and Mom got lots of goodies! I made Mom a big blanket (fuzzy chenille type fabric with silk trim) like I made for Addie's birthday (per her request) and surprised Mom with a girl's trip to Nashville at the end of April. Jarom will be headed off with his work friends to Memphis in May that weekend so I figured it would be a perfect time for a shopping trip! We will be staying at the Hyatt and plan to spend one day shopping and one day at the zoo, 2 nights overall. It will be fun to get away! Katie got the weekend off, so we are going to have a blast! Mom really did get a birthday haul this year! ;)

Well that wraps up February! I still have to catch up March so far but at least I'm not AS far behind!
