Surgery Rescheduled

Jarom's surgery was rescheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday in Scottsboro. They no longer had Thursday available so we had to either do it tomorrow while the doctor is in Scottsboro or Monday in HSV. Jarom wants to get it over with since he's in pain and will be in even more pain after the surgery. So Mom will watch Addie while Jarom and I go to get him cut on. His surgery is at 11 AM so say lots of prayers for a good surgery and speedy recovery!

Jarom Update

He went and saw Dr. Maddox, the surgeon, this afternoon and he now is scheduled for surgery. It appears his tendon is completely severed. He also is getting a bit of infection in the wound despite our many many cleanings and wraps, so he is on a stronger antibiotic now. The doctor said "not to scare you, but to scare you...if the infection spreads to his arm that they might have to amputate..." EEK! So stronger antibiotics are a must! So we scheduled for Monday morning, but they had a spot open this Thursday, so we are going to reschedule it first thing in the morning for Thursday and just cancel our Atlanta trip so Jarom won't miss as much work. Boo. So keep Jarom in your prayers, they said he will be totally worthless for 72 hours after surgery.

Trip to the ER

Last night I left the RS General Broadcast early because Addie was super grumpy after not having an afternoon nap. I call Jarom on my way home (he had been at work all day) and he tells me he "took a chunk out of his knuckle while trying to fix someones range as a favor". I asked him if we needed to go to the ER and he said no.

I get home and see it, and you could see the tendon and muscle it was opened up so bad and he couldn't fully extend his finger so I told him we needed to go to the ER, but he refused. So I call our doctor and the doctor says the same thing... Jarom refuses. I call my friend Cyndi who is a RN and she says the same after I sent her a picture message of it, and Jarom STILL refuses. So we head to Walgreen's to get some Dermabond so that I could glue him together and Jarom then got in touch with his Mom who tells him to go to the ER and FINALLY he listened.

I had called both ERs and Huntsville sounded less busy (plus I like them better anyways) so we headed over. As I was signing us in, Addie was trying to touch the counter, grab pens- obviously trying to catch the flu, so I kept telling her the place was "nucky" so I think the ladies took sympathy on us so we were called back immediately- ahead of everyone else that was there!

The ER doctor was Dr. Murphy who happened to be LDS. We put it all together when she asked Jarom where he worked, then asked if we knew the Mayfields, particularly Misty. What a small world! Huntsville Hospital couldn't have been any nicer or accommodating. They Lysol wiped everything down for Addie, brought her paper, pencils, made her an ID bracelet, and brought her juice.

Jarom ended up getting an Xray (no broken bones) and they found that his tendon had been cut, requiring 2 internal stitches, 4 external stitches, and a tetanus shot. We have to set up an appointment with a hand surgeon tomorrow to see if anything further is needed to regain mobility of his finger.

We went to get his antibiotics and pain medicine and finally made it home at about 12:00 AM. So Addie didn't get to bed until after 1 AM and with no afternoon nap, so no church for her today, then Jarom was still planning on going but woke up hurting so bad that he almost passed out again, so we all stayed home. He is still in a lot of pain today when the medicine starts to wear off, so I hope that ends soon!

Kind of proud of this...

So I found this cutie fabric at JoAnn's when Katie and I went up to Nashville last week and envisioned an adorable fall dress for Addie. I took the tutorial Alisha used and came up with this! I love it!

I was so close to being done and my bobbin ran out of thread so I added a little orange to it, not wanting to fill it since I don't use orange too often... Then just as I'm finishing up, Addie jumped on my foot pedal sewing across the top of the dress! ARGH! So I remove her mess and go to finish up and my bobbin ran out again! So about 4 good hours of sewing later voila! (The tutorial said its a 30-45 min project! NOT for me...)

Last of PCB Vacation pictures!

Hang in there... a long picture post ahead! Saturday was our last day before we headed home so we spent the day on the beach. A tropical storm was rolling in so the waves were huge! Addie fell asleep out in the ocean in my arms as I was jumping trying to keep us from getting covered up. I took her back to the beach and she napped for about an hour with Grandpa while Jarom, Bob, and I played football out in the ocean. We played hard and then cleaned up and got ready for pictures and dinner. Unfortunately the storm coming in made it too dark for great pictures, so I did the best I could in the poor light and didn't get what I wanted... boo!

Now for the individual shots:

Addie was excited about seeing a bird!

So happy to go to dinner! We went to Pineapple Willy's for dinner and it was great! We finished off the night with a crab hunt and found lots of tiny sandcrabs and one decent sized one. Addie loved the crabs once she got over being scared of the water on her feet in the dark.

Sunday we packed up and headed out. On the way out of PCB we had to stop at Goofy Golf for pictures of Addie. Dad and Mom both have pictures of them there as kids, I have pictures of me there, so now we have pictures of Addie! I hope it is still there by the time we have another little one so that we can continue the tradition! Addie did great in the car both ways and the DVD player was as always a lifesaver! Since we have been home Addie gets excited when she sees big hotels and begs to go to the "beattch" and the "wa-tur" all the time. I have been able to keep her happy by letting her "swim" in the bathtub so she has been getting tons of baths just for fun. It was a fantastic vacation, definitely one to remember! (Oh and JAROM-my hubby who hates the sand-suggested we go to the beach EVERY year instead of every other since Addie won't enjoy the mountains as much...WOOHOO!!!)
Whew! Done! No more beach pics until next year!

PCB...long overdue

Addie loved piling sand on everyone!

I know. It's been a month since we were at the beach and I still haven't finished my post. I have forgotten what days things happened, but we spent lots of time at the beach, pool, and just relaxing in our condo! Wednesday night we went to Angelo's steak house for dinner (amazing food) and Addie fell asleep right after our food came so I ended up holding her the entire meal. Thursday we spent time on the beach and while Addie napped Mom watched Addie so Jarom and I could have a little date. We went to Pier Park (similar to Bridge Street) and shopped, got Jarom some new sunglasses, and then had ice cream and headed back for dinner.
Luckily they dipped us at a sandbar so I could see what I was being lowered in to!Coming in for a landing!
Friday Jarom and I went parasailing and thought Addie would be allowed on the boat, but found out we had to take a banana boat to the boat and Addie was too small. So Katie watched Addie while we went and we had a blast! The banana boat was more fun than the parasailing really... the parasailing wasn't scary like I thought it'd be. We did the 3 mile ride with two dips in the water, and 1200 feet of rope, so we were way up there! Later that day we took Addie to Pier Park, ate lunch at Reggae Js (do not recommend) while it poured rain outside. It had stopped raining by the time we finished eating so we took Addie to bounce on those trampolines with the harness and took her on the carousel. Then we let her pick out candy at the store and she was in heaven.

Addie insisted on wearing her bathing suit that day under her clothes...I have so many pictures from Saturday (our last day) it is unreal, so they will have to be for yet another post.

A video of Addie feeding the birds on the beach. We were going to take her on a dolphin tour but she was so excited about feeding chips to the birds we didn't even bother spending the $100!
