Milestones!

Addison is now sitting up! She turned six months yesterday and decided today it was finally time to show us her skills. Her longest run was only for about three minutes but that is way better than the 15 seconds we were at a few weeks ago!

She's so proud of herself! I had to bribe her with some new pretty pink PJ's from gymboree in order for her to sit for me, but she is a female and it worked!
Addie in her new jammies
Cute story from today... Mom and I were shopping for Addison's six month picture outfit for next week and I found these little snuggly blankets that have a stuffed animal attached. My friend Christie's daughter uses them to go to sleep, so I thought it'd be worth a try. So Mom and I show Addie a cat one and she reaches for it and kisses it on the mouth three times until I finally said "Ok, I'll buy it!". Then the little booger didn't want to have anything to do with it once we were out in the car... She tried to pull the kissing trick on a bright dress at Babies R' Us a little later but I didn't fall for it this time.

I started Addie back on solids today. We had taken a break from it partially due to my laziness and partially because I thought her gassy tummy might be from them. Addie must have really missed it because she ate two little bowls of rice cereal and a little bit of pears. I couldn't find Addie's sippy cup so I just let her drink pear juice from a cup and she thought she was SO big! Addie has gotten pretty good with drinking from a normal cup. I try it from time to time and now she seems to have gotten the hang of it as long as I'm holding the cup and she doesn't make a huge mess anymore.
I had forgotten about my boppie until I saw Avery using it, so I pulled it out tonight once she started getting tired of sitting up and got a few more minutes out of her and I didn't have to worry about her falling back and hitting her head on the hardwood!
We are so proud of Addie's newest achievement! I can't believe how fast this time is flying, before we know it she'll be a little toddler!

Six Months Old!

Addie thinks everything is funny!
Addie is the best little gift I could have ever received and I can't imagine life without her. She turned six months old today and it feels like she has been here forever but yet it also feels like just yesterday we were leaving the hospital. She is a joy to be around, always smiling, laughing, and making me laugh.
Addie LOVES to give kisses and gives them freely. She grabs my face, pulls me to her, and lays a big wet slobber kiss on my cheek and my heart just melts. She is tender hearted but is a loudmouth, she loves to play, dance, jump around, and cuddle. Addie is close to sitting up, she loves to stand and can take steps if we hold her arms. She is trying to roll from her back to her belly but only makes it about half way. During tummy time she desperately tries to move around with her toes, and can roll from tummy to back. She does really well with eating from a spoon and can drink from a sippy cup (though she much rather prefers to nurse).
Addie loves to watch people and is fun (most of the time) to go shopping with. I pull her out of her carseat and sit her on my hip and we can shop all day. She smiles and watches everyone around us, tries to grab clothes, groceries, or whatever else is near. I have starting bringing a toy in my purse for her to hold onto so she doesn't grab everything off the shelves, and it proves to work so far! Everyone around us loves on her (often to my dismay-don't kiss her you stranger) and makes sweet comments and she of course eats it up and gives them a big toothless grin.

Addie is a little chatterbox. She chatters all the time and really sweet talks with her binky. In the mornings when she wakes up she just chatters and coos until I get her from the bed. She gets so excited over the littlest things and shrieks in joy. She just loves life.

Addie loves other babies. She is constantly trying to kiss them and touch their faces which doesn't always make the other baby happy. I can't wait for Addie to meet cousin Avery and see them interact.

I am so blessed to have this beautiful little girl as mine, I love staying home with her and watching her grow and learn. I love her so much I could burst!

Sippy cup success!

I have tried to get Addie to drink from her sippy cup without much luck. She prefers to chew on it most of the time. However this past week I handed it to her and she turned it upside down and drank from it that way. Now all I have to do is make sure its upside down and she drinks like crazy from it. What a little silly girl I have!

Rubber Ducky, I'm awfully fond of you...

Addie has become a splasher! She ends up soaking me and the floor every time, so I introduced to her Mr. Rubber Ducky and she loves him! She chews on him and holds him and plays with him during her bath and it really cuts down on the splashing. Rubber ducky you're my very best friend, its true!

still no pictures...

I still have no new pictures to post because my dear husband took my camera and cord to work then lost the cord. So I have a ton of pictures but no way to download them... I hope to make it to best buy tomorrow to try to buy a new one. Wish me luck!

Addie is suffering through teething right now. She has 2 teeth on the bottom and her top gums are SO swollen and huge. They hurt her so bad, I feel so sorry for her! She also keeps biting me while I nurse her. I yelp really loudly then pop her little diapered bottom (not hard, but just enough to get her attention) and she looks at me so sad and then her face crumbles and she cries and then will bite me again! So I have tried also where I stop nursing her if she bites me and then nurse her later, but that doesn't work either... I dread when she gets top teeth because at least now half of the bite is gums!

shakemilk

When I was 2, my Mom took me to get a milkshake but said "Do NOT tell your father that you had a milkshake!" because Dad is a hardcore heath nut! Well wouldn't you know that the first thing I told Dad when he got home was "daddy, today I had a shake milk..." He replied "a shake milk?" then immediately turns to mom wondering what kind of junk she was feeding me.

Well I couldn't help but remember this when Jarom and I went to Krystal's to get milkquakes the other day. I normally don't like Krystal's but their banana pudding milkquake is Amazing! So Addie was pitching a fit in the back seat so I stuck my straw in her mouth for her to chew on and wouldn't you know that little bugger learned very quickly how to suck from a straw and was gulping down my milkshake!!! So Dad, mom made it until I was 2, little Addie was only 5 1/2 months and she loved it! You should have seen the wide eyes!

SOLD!

Before... The completed home when we put it up for sale last NovemberMy parents, Jarom, and I purchased our first flip house last July. We completely renovated it and finished it at the beginning of November. Well we missed the prime time to sell, so it sat on the market until April, and then we finally got a contract and closed May 2nd! We learned a LOT and it ended up to be a good overall experience. (I say that, but I wasn't the one doing the hard labor in the 105 degree weather, I was big pregnant!) So here are a few pictures of before.

This was the garage turned 2nd den that we converted back to a garage.
This was the kitchen, it was a wreck!

We tore down this whole wall in the kitchen because it closed in the real den areaThis is the den in all of its wood paneling glory

This is the dining room looking into the living room... check out that green carpet.Check out the pepto bismal pink EVERYTHING! Trim, doors, walls....eek! Isn't that nice in the master bath??? There was a window from the master bath to the hall bath... we got rid of it

And thanks mainly to my fabulous Mother who worked herself silly over there, Dad, Jarom, and one heck of a handy man here are the after pictures...

Notice the hardwood and NO wood paneling!!!We had custom maple cabinets put in and Jarom hooked us up with the stainless appliances. We also added recessed lighting, notice the missing wall and the peninsula we replaced it with. After many hours of trying to remove the old wallpaper, we decided to choose a new wallpaper instead of painting it for the ump-teenth time. This hall bath had carpet with blood on it, nasty wallpaper, pepto bismal cabinets, and had that little window looking into the shower area, look how pretty now!

The master bedroom sans pink...

Master bath after it was completely gutted and redone... notice Jarom's tile work on the shower and floor.

Isn't the kitchen to die for??!

We didn't skimp on anything with the house and did the renovation just as we would have if we were going to live in the home. I think the new owners will love it! I should have taken some pictures before we sold it of the outside once all the grass grew in and to show the bushes Dad and Scott planted. It turned out to be a gorgeous home!

We have signed a contract to buy our next flip house! We close June 13th. Luckily the house is right next door to mine, so we won't have to travel 30 minutes like this last house just to get there! It won't need nearly the work this one required, so we should have it back on the market within a week. Wish us luck!

Mothers Day and More

My little Angel in the cute outfit Aunt Kiara sent her!

Sunday was my first official Mother's Day. Jarom got up with Addie and took her in the other room so I could sleep in, made me breakfast in bed, gave me the day off of diaper duty, and got me some cool gadgets for my ipod and tennis shoes, and a rose. Nike+ shoes have this cool place you put a sensor that syncs with your ipod to calculate your pace, distance, time walked, and calories burned. So I bought the tennis shoes last week not realizing they did all of that, and then found out so Jarom got me all of the cool little gadgets to go along with them. It was a good day!

The biggest news of the week is that today Addie took her first steps! Jarom was holding her at the waist while she stood there and when I came over to her she took four steps toward me, so then put her back again and she stepped four more steps! Usually she justs stands there when you help her stand, but now she is finally moving! I got so excited that she got super excited and I couldn't get her to do it again, she was too busy waving her arms around and grinning because I was acting like a nut!

Addie also now reaches for you when she wants to go to someone and she LOVES to give kisses to everyone now. Here are some pictures of her sharing the love with Noah at the church auction Friday night...I don't think Noah really minded either... look at that grin on his face! Addie has also learned the art of blowing raspberries... it was cute until she didn't want to be quiet during Relief Society Sunday. She also chatters nonstop, especially in the car. We got a really cute video on the way home from Mom's Sunday night, but I can't get it to upload right now so I'll try later.

Addie is still being lazy in the sitting up department... this is her idea of sitting up. Then I put her in her bebepod and she does this... Maybe Avery can give her some pointers when she comes here next month!

We went to the Botanical Gardens Free Day today with Ashley and MacLane and had a blast but I forgot my camera! Ashley had hers, so I will post pictures later once she emails them to me. Well it is late, but I wanted to post some to catch up since I have been bad about posting lately!

Rooty Tooty Fresh and Fruity...

Addie started eating baby food at the beginning of last week. I started her out with some green beans and bananas and she did great with them, so I decided to branch out and try some sweet peas and bananas and she got very clogged up... So she was in such a bad shape she refused to eat her cereal that night and lunch yesterday so I just nursed her and she decided to let it all loose at Belks, then again at JCPenny's, then at home...
Well yesterday it was our good friend Ben's birthday so we decided to go to IHOP once I got home from the mall. I ordered the rooty tooty fresh and fruity and when I got my food Addie really started acting up. So Jarom took her from me and had her standing on the table and she blew out her diaper VERY LOUDLY! She was rootin' and tootin' and making the most awful bunch of sounds you have ever heard. We couldn't help but burst out laughing and she just kept going and going and going. (we had a repeat episode in relief society today).

Needless to say, I will not be feeding her peas any time soon again... That was one big ole mess. Addie will now be known as my little rooty tooty.

Here are a few pictures from the week.

Like Father, Like Daughter
Anyone that knows Jarom knows of his love for Oreos. Addie apparently feels the same way about them...
Do you think its about time we get a new tub for Addie???

Happy 25th Birthday Ben!

Peach Cobbler

My grandmother always has the best recipes. When I was probably 10 years old, she gave me her cobbler recipe. I hadn't made it in at least 10 years and decided to make it for dessert when the Haynie's were in town last fall and it turned out terrible! The crust didn't come up over the fruit like it was supposed to and so it was more like peach dumplings. So I decided I'd try my hand at it again today since we fed the missionaries and it turned out wonderful this time! Woohoo! It is such an easy recipe, I must share! (I figured out that I didn't drain the fruit enough the last time and that you need to put it immediately in the oven after you add all the ingredients.)

Mimmie's Fruit Cobbler

1 stick of butter
1 cup of milk
1 cup of flour
1 cup of sugar
1 can of fruit mostly drained

Preheat oven to 350F. Melt stick of butter in bottom of dish. (A round dish that is about 3 or so inches deep works best). Mix together milk, flour, and sugar and pour on top of butter. Then pour on top the fruit and immediately put in oven. Do not mix or do anything else to it. Bake for 45 minutes or until golden brown.

It is so good with some vanilla ice cream too... YUM!
