Peach Cobbler

My grandmother always has the best recipes. When I was probably 10 years old, she gave me her cobbler recipe. I hadn't made it in at least 10 years and decided to make it for dessert when the Haynie's were in town last fall and it turned out terrible! The crust didn't come up over the fruit like it was supposed to and so it was more like peach dumplings. So I decided I'd try my hand at it again today since we fed the missionaries and it turned out wonderful this time! Woohoo! It is such an easy recipe, I must share! (I figured out that I didn't drain the fruit enough the last time and that you need to put it immediately in the oven after you add all the ingredients.)

Mimmie's Fruit Cobbler

1 stick of butter
1 cup of milk
1 cup of flour
1 cup of sugar
1 can of fruit mostly drained

Preheat oven to 350F. Melt stick of butter in bottom of dish. (A round dish that is about 3 or so inches deep works best). Mix together milk, flour, and sugar and pour on top of butter. Then pour on top the fruit and immediately put in oven. Do not mix or do anything else to it. Bake for 45 minutes or until golden brown.

It is so good with some vanilla ice cream too... YUM!

That does look super yummy. I have some canned peaches I need to get rid of and that will be the perfect way. So you pour the flour mixture on top of the fruit right? Or is it the other way around? Yum! Thanks for sharing!

Hey Sweetie, Your cobbler was great! Mimmie's orginal receipe just says to dump the whole can of fruit, juice and all in, that is of course if some prefer it with more liquid. :)

I dump the fruit last. So first butter, then flour mixture, then fruit.
