11 Months already!

Where does the time seriously go?! Addie is so independent. She wants to feed herself, tries to put on clothes, pulls up on everything, and is very opinionated. She talks (gibberish mixed with the words she knows) all the time and charms everyone. Here are a few things Addie loves:

Yoohoo's Ball popper & the music it plays when she presses the button
Pulling up (and carrots-thats what is in her mouth) Throwing balls Playing with Maclane
Riding on things... lions, her rocking giraffe, our knees, etc.
Exploring EVERYTHINGAddie doesn't like getting in trouble for pulling out all of the wipes!
She says lots of words, her newest are "khhkee" (cookie) and "juuuw" (juice). She tries to mimic what we say and fake laughs whenever we laugh. She is a joy to be around and I am so blessed to call her mine.

New Woman!

Whew, I woke up a new woman today! Isn't it amazing how much better you feel once you are over a stomach virus?!

I relapsed after eating ramen noodles Monday night and was hugging the potty at 3,4,5, & 6 AM, but woke up feeling not as bad. Mom took Addie all day... seriously... 8:30 AM-10:30 PM. Jarom had GE training after working 12 hours already and then had to go to Walmart to get us Gatorade, sprite, him some oreos (his comfort food), saline nose spray, and a cool mist humidifier to help with me and Addie's congestion. He picked up Addie on his way home (didn't get home until 10:45 pm), then got me stuff to drink, helped me change a humongous blow out poopy diaper, (all the way up the back, everywhere), got the dogs situated under the house so they wouldn't freeze to death (they are too stupid to go in their dog house) and then made up the bed with new sheets and pillowcases. Poor Jarom was exhausted. I sure to love & appreciate my sweet husband.

Today other than being covered with a layer of grime, I feel WONDERFUL! I just got Addie down for a nap, started straightening the house back up and am now going to go shower this crud off! I think I might have to become a super germ-a-phobe at least until the winter is over because Addie and I seriously do not want anymore sickies! I think Walmart gave us this last bout (Addie trying to lick the shopping cart, hands on it then in mouth, etc), so I have got to remember her cart cover and step up the handwashing. Any suggestions for washing hands while we are out and about? Can I use the antibacterial gel on Addie or is she too small? I try to use wipies but obviously it isn't really helping with the germs.

I'm SO over it!

Warning: Not for those with a weak stomach!!!

Are you kidding me? I woke up with yet ANOTHER stomach virus today. This is my 5th one in 10 months. I felt it coming and quickly turned on the TV in our room for Addie, leaving her on the bed and ran to the bathroom. A few minutes later I peek in to check on Addie (between harfs) and she is sitting on the edge of the bed, feet dangling, trying to reach the nightstand... Eek!!! I was too late and she busted her cheek on the stand leaving her her first bruise.... pitiful. She was in hysterics and I felt another bout coming on.... AH! I try to sit her in the floor so I could harf and she didn't want to have anything to do with it, she started screaming and arching her back, not wanting me to let go of her. So I end up holding one of her arms while sitting on the toilet puking into the tub. I finally let go of her and am trying to finish and she starts pulling up on the toilet trying to reach in....GROSS!

At this point I am desperate so I wipe my mouth and start calling people. Mom had forgotten her cell at home, Katie was at work, Dad didn't hear his phone so I finally call Jarom "Jarom you HAVE to come home NOW..." as I continue raving to him I didn't realize my cell had died so all he heard was you have to come home now. Poor Jarom. He made it home in record time, I was definitely impressed as I was still harfing in the tub. He brings me some water, grabs Addie and makes a beeline to the other room. I really don't blame him. It was nasty. Work is calling him nonstop, so my sweet hubby takes Addie, dresses her, changes her extremely wet diaper from all night and takes her to work with him.

Mom got home and saw my missed calls and heard my desperate messages "mommmm (raspy, half dead voice) I NEED you" 2nd call "mommmmmm (increasingly dead voice) I really really need you right now, callllllll me!" 3rd call on the house line"(almost in tears) Moooooommmmmmmm, please come over". Now yes, I do realize that I am 23 and really should be able to handle a puke virus without my mommy, but man, it sure is nice to have her there to help! She came over, brought me sprite and waited until Jarom got back with Addie moments later. She then loaded up Addie's stuff and took her to her house for the rest of the day. Jarom stayed with me (cough, his xbox, cough) the rest of the day, made me soup (which I finally got to eat 5 hours later due to more pukes), and got Addie from Mom's this evening. Mom sent him home with dinner so he didn't have to come up with something for just him and Addie went down for a late nap after two huge poopy diapers (poor Jarom again). I sure do love my mom and hubby. I feel a little better, my stomach is still uneasy, but hopefully this is the last one I'll have for a LONG time.

Oh to top off the day, Addie pulled a dinner plate off of the coffee table from Jarom's dinner and it landed right on the top of her foot at her ankle leaving another bruise. Her first 2 bruises in one day. How sad is that?! Tomorrow WILL be a better day!

Bad luck?

I really think I am bad luck. Whenever I get into a sporting event the team I go for loses... Jarom was disappointed that he couldn't take time off work to go to a BYU game this year so I tried to cheer him up by surprising him with BYU tees for the whole family. I bought snack foods for the game and we were ready to go... apparently BYU wasn't. But we looked cute anyways.

Hopefully they will do better next time!

Pumpkin Patch

Our two pumpkins Daddy & Addie before we started our day
Saturday we headed out to Lyon Family Farms with Skyler, Ashley, & Maclane. Even though it felt really warm out at home, it was so cold out on the farm. Of course we didn't bring jackets, so we all had runny noses by the end of the trip.

Addie & Maclane are 7 months apart We had so much fun! They had a few slides, Addie liked the smaller slides (we went down with her) so we decided to try the big slide with her. She came out with eyes the size of saucers but didn't cry or act upset-just suprised.

Me & Addie at the top of the slideAddie & Jarom at the top of the big slideNext we went to the corn crib and Addie wasn't too keen on it once I told her she couldn't eat the corn. We took a ride around the farm in the cow train (Jarom and Skyler couldn't fit into the train) and then we went to visit the animals. Addie was fine as long as she was far enough away from the animals but when Jarom tried to get her closer she would hide. Maclane loved it though and made all of the appropriate animal sounds.

Addie trying to escape when the sheep got too close! After all the stink we could handle in the animal area we went on the ride out to the pumpkin patch. Addie enjoyed this more than anything because we finally got a few smiles out of her despite the cold wind and runny noses.

Brrr... it was cold!We searched and searched and finally found two pumpkins to pick. By this time we were thoroughly frozen and decided to head home. We had a great dinner at the Lee's and the girls played together while we talked. We had a blast and look forward to next year when Addie can run around and pick her own pumpkin!

What is in her mouth now?!

Addie has started sticking out her tongue to show me what is in her mouth when I ask... silly little girl! She also is learning a few new things. Addie now can say "twoooo" and occasionally follow it with "thugh-reeee" after I say one. We have done a lot of canning the last few weeks and so I try to do stuff to entertain Addie but since we are at the church there isn't too much to play with so I try to make her laugh by counting and then doing something silly on the count of three. So all the ladies got to hear Addie's "two and three". Addie does pretty well considering that we canned from 10:30 AM-7 PM and she was stuck in her bebepod most of the time.

Tonight we got her to say "hot" because she kept trying to touch the peppers I was pickling. She is also doing her best to say Katie. It sounds more like kitty right now and she always whispers it, but its still cute. I let her watch a preschool video about colors last night and it is so boring for me, because it says each color about 50 times before it changes to a new one, but Addie LOVED it and was saying "puh puh" (purple) and "booo"(blue). We took a trip to the pumpkin patch Saturday so look for that post soon!

Over the top? Perhaps...

So I have implemented a "no shoes in the house" policy. This comes from constant panic of what Addie will put (or currently has) in her mouth. It is not practical to mop and scrub rugs every day, and its not practical to try to wash Addie's hands every five minutes. There is no end to what gets tracked in on shoes...think of all the junk you have stepped in accidentally... doggy doo, lugeys, pesticides, dirt, bugs, lead, toxins, and general muck- with Addie all over the floors I can't relax unless I know that my floors are clean and that she won't be rubbing her food all over that muck and then putting it in her mouth.

I hope I do not offend anyone by asking them to remove their shoes, but I have to keep Addie's best interest in mind. I am trying to find a cute sign to hang outside both of my doors... I might try to enlist some of you crafty people to help me with it. Next craft day maybe?

So am I over the top? Maybe. But consider this fair warning! :)

Bye & Ducky

So per Carly's request, I set out after her inner beast had been satisfied (a dinner of cheese ravioli) to try to get Addie saying a few things on video. She was much too interested in her carrots, but I got bye and ducky for ya!

No No Addie!

Addie just bit the fire out of my finger/fingernail... bit it right at the quick. YEOUCH!!! I yelped and scolded her pretty good, she started crying, and then I felt like a schmuck. My finger is still throbbing! In her defense I did have my finger in her mouth brushing her teeth, but still! She knows not to bite! So then I pull her out of the tub, get her dressed and she decided to be sweet to me since she knew I was still upset and pulled up on me and started kissing me and saying "ooohhhh, ooohhhh" like we do when she does something cute... Are you kidding me?? Little booger!

But before the biting drama, I handed Addie her rubber ducky and said "here's your ducky" and she said "duh-ky duh-ky". While she played with ducky she kept saying "ducky ducky". I love her little munchkin voice! She started on Saturday night putting two words together. She says "Hi daddy", "hi Addie"(wonderful how close her name is Daddy). She also has been saying beeby (baby) and biiid (bad). She picked up bad after hearing me tell Scotts dog "bad dog" after she kept jumping on me.

Addie took a spill from our bed a couple of days ago and so I read her 10 Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed. She loves those darn monkeys now. Last night she had Jarom read her the book 5 times. Every time he would put it up she would crawl over him, grab it and hand it to him. He hid it under the covers and she went after it, he sat on it, she found it, he put it in the floor... you get the idea. For our sanity I've got to buy her more books.

Ahh!!! I hate teething!

Addie's molar on the bottom right has been trying to come through for quite a while now. But as of Saturday night her little gums right there are swollen so bad and are realllllly hurting her. As long as she has tylenol or motrin in her she is her normal self, playing, being silly, and at the moment is set on feeding me every last cheerio I put on her tray, but when it wears off oh do I have a feverish, sad little girl. You can see the four corners trying to come through, they are just barely under the gum, so I have been giving her tons of stuff to chew on. Her doctor told me not to give her teething tablets or orajel, so do you have any suggestions? Addie doesn't like frozen wash cloths because her hands get too cold and she doesn't like the texture when she chews on it.

10 Months!

Addie turned 10 months yesterday and slept through the night again (finally)! This luxury has been extinct since she started teething and ruined her 2 month streak. Addie is very hot natured but I usually dress her in footed PJ's because she won't keep the covers on. Usually she wakes up with a sweaty head during the night a few times. Last night I finally put her in a onesie and the girl slept all night. I guess she has been about to die of heat stroke and it keeps waking her up! We'll see if it works again tonight.

Addie really likes to chatter. Her newest words are "bad" and dog, though dog sounds more like "dag". Whenever she sees our dogs or Scott's new puppy she says "dag" "daggy". She still says "bow", "uh oh", "no", "bye", "hi", "hey", "mom or mama", "dad or dada", and tries to say other words but they aren't super clear yet. She tries to say "bite" when she is hungry and I am fixing her food but it comes out "beet", and sometimes when she hears a bird she says "beed".

We read three books before we go to bed and I let Addie pick which order they are read in. She switches it up each night. I put the three books in front of her and she picks up the one she wants me to read. When it is time for the second and third book I do the same thing and she so far has always picked a book that we haven't read yet that night. It is really weird but cute that she picks a different one each time. She has a favorite new book "I see a monster" that is a touch book. I love our cuddle/reading time each night.

Oh it is so funny to not let go of the spoon when Mommy tries to feed you!

Addie is eating lots of real food. A typical day is mixed grain cereal and diced fruit for breakfast, a half a sandwich, pasta, or whatever I'm having for lunch, and usually she eats what we do for dinner too with some things substituted. She eats a lot of the Gerber graduates foods, and loves the dinner entrees. I don't think she is supposed to have those yet, but she loves them. She chews up chips, crackers, bread, meat (I have only given her sliced meats and ground beef), and pretty much anything I put in her mouth or she gets a hold of. Tonight when Jarom was watching her at church she got a staple in her mouth that hadn't been stapled yet. When I took Addie from him I was playing in the foyer with her and saw something shiny and much to her dismay removed it from the death grip of her teeth. She drinks out of a cup, straw, or sippy cup great now and really loves smoothies! She wants me to let go of the normal cup but whenever I do she might get a swallow before she is wearing her drink. She is eating SO much we joke we are going to have to order her a kids meal when we go out!

This box of cheerios was on the opposite edge of the table but somehow she got them and opened the box and chowed down.

Addie is very mobile now. She follows me around the house all day with that weird crawl. She is a mini Houdini and gets out of her bebepod if I don't have the tray on it and seems to escape from everything. When I cook she sits in the pod on the kitchen table and one day I looked over at her and she was in the crawling position on the table with one knee still on the pod about to make her escape onto the floor...eek!
She pulls up nonstop on whatever is around, I have definitely become a jungle gym. Church is a struggle because 3 hours without play time is apparently cruel and unusual punishment to a 10 month old. I bought her a push walker at kids market and she loved it and was making her way around until it got away from her and she was all stretched out like superman and then fell. I caught her so it was more of a scare but now she is a scaredy cat. I also got her a rocking giraffe and that is the best $6 I ever spent. She rocks on that thing all the time then stands up and rocks it and thinks it is a hilarious game. Jarom will push the back of it while she is standing and rocking and they go flying around the house. They are so silly together!

Addie is my little love bug and showers me with sugars and hugs but only when she is in the mood. If I try to steal too many sugars when she isn't in that mood I get a stern growl... are you kidding me? I thought the attitude didn't start until she was 13 or so... What is that?!
She loves to feed me and share her food. Addie is stretch armstrong and can get anything within ten miles of her chair. I swear I put food as far away as possible from her and somehow before I know it the food has turned into body paint.

This past Sunday I woke up and saw that Daddy and Addie were sleeping in exactly the same position, so I rushed to grab the camera. I promise you I didn't pose them!!!

So overall being a mom is a blast and I can't imagine it any other way!
