Whoa!

I was reading on article last week it said that to give Addie confidence in her walking I should "fall" when I'm walking to show Addie that big people fall too . Jarom and I now occasionally will tumble down the hallway and make a big production of it and Addie laughs so hard it is ridiculous!

This video is after we've done it with her several times already, so she doesn't laugh as hard as she usually does, but you get the idea.

"A" Play date

Addie and Abby are a week apart in age, so it's so fun to watch them grow up together. Christy and I always have fun together, so play dates are the perfect excuse!
Sweet Abby
Little booger pretending to be angelic
(She's got some of Gramps' red in her hair)I think they could pass for cousins... don't you?
Addie had enough and was on her way out...
This was her reaction to me having her sit down.
Seriously Addie... at least she has a cute bum.
And here are some random ones from our day. The girls had fun reading together and roaming all over the house. We also made a quick shopping trip and the girls were on their best behavior and even held hands in the car.
Abby had a blast with Addie's sippy Addie wouldn't move, so Abby just crawled over her, lol

Silly Stories

Addie trying to destroy my childhood rocker that I redid for her...Addie rocking her piggy
(She is in love with her piggy so I tried to get more at Old Navy and they were out... even online was out. I called every Old Navy in the area and finally found 2 in Florence and paid more in shipping than I did for the actual pigs. But now I never have to worry about her losing or tearing one up... :) ) Addie sticks out her tongue when she concentrates
(which is funny because my Dad bites his tongue when he concentrates) Addie has been difficult with her naps lately and is down to one a day. She doesn't want to nap anymore, and I am tired of spending 45 minutes or more trying to get her to go to sleep, that I have just been letting her exhaust herself until she falls asleep.

I try to get her to nap at home but when its 3 in the afternoon and she refuses to go down for a nap, we have to go get our errands done. We have many moments when we'll be out and she'll just konk out while I'm holding her.
The other day I was cleaning out my cabinets and a rice krispy dropped on the floor. Addie was trying to chew through the plastic to eat it, so I put her in her chair with a part of it and her boost drink, and let her enjoy herself. I got distracted at the computer in my living room, but could see her out of my peripheral vision. So I let her eat and play (or so I thought that was what she was doing) until Jarom and I were ready to go grocery shopping (10 minutes or so later). Jarom goes to pick her up and she is sound asleep with rice krispy all on her face, her fingers are glued together with marshmallow, and the drink was all gone. Poor baby! So I picked her up moved her to the bed, and worried over ungluing her later.
Later we got home from shopping and dinner and Jarom was watching Fringe. I don't like him to watch it while Addie is up because its too graphic/scary for her. Addie was busy playing in the hall with her stroller, balloon, and stuffed animals, so Jarom kept watching while she played. She walked down the hall into her bedroom and a few seconds later I hear her laughing. I paused the TV to listen to what she was doing and I hear another TV on... Jarom and I go to her room and she's standing in front of the TV, laughing at the PBS show. The little booger turned it on herself!
Addie found this in my church binder and figured it would be good to draw on...
She also has been "chilling" when she watches TV. Instead of sitting like she used to, she lays back, lays down, or cuddles with me. It cracks me up to see her acting so grown up.

She drew until I turned on the TV then whipped around to watch
Last story... When I give Addie a bath, I empty and rinse the sink after I soap her up, and then again when I'm done with her bath so she can play in clean water. (Yes I know that's a little OCD but I feel like you are sitting in your own dirt when you take a bath). So I was straightening the kitchen while she played and she saw me putting up her goldfish crackers. She wanted some so I held out my hand to give her some. She grabbed a handful and threw them in the water, then proceeded to eat out of the water... Ew!!! (But I had to laugh and take a picture). I tried to get her to just eat them out of my hand and even if I would only give her one, she would take it, dip it in the water, then eat it. At least the water wasn't soapy...

My little toddler

Addie is finally walking! She has taken a few steps a day for a long time now, but over the weekend she really started taking off. When she has a toy in hand she will take up to 40 steps at a time. It is so funny watching her walk, she is still so tiny! We wear her out getting her to walk to each of us, but she is so proud of herself.

Addie keeps me going. She nods yes and no now for what she wants to eat or not. She loves to talk on the phone and does so ALL the time. If you leave your phone anywhere near her, she grabs it, pushes a few buttons, then starts walking around with it up to her ear, chattering away. We have to call Grandma and Aunt Katie every day so Addie can chat, she loves to have someone talking to her on the other line. She tells me all kinds of things all day, though I understand very little of it. She loves to draw and gets VERY mad when you take her pen away. Mom gave her a pen and paper during RS. Addie wanted to walk around with the pen once she was done scribbling, so Mom took it away from her, afraid she'd fall and hurt herself. Addie threw herself down on her stomach and started crying and I quickly yanked her outside and gave her a talking to. She obviously has hit the terrible twos a year early. Oh the joys of an independent (or so she thinks) little girl!
Addie's SO over me taking her picture...

Addie's Year Doctor Visit

We had Addie's check up today and she is doing well. She weighs 15.15 lbs and is 29 inches tall. She is in the 35th percentile for her head, 25th percentile in height, and less than the 1st percentile in weight. The doctor wants me to add a scoop of Boost (like Ensure for babies) to her milk to see if we can get her to gain a little weight. The doctor said she probably just has a high metabolism because my sister and I weren't on the charts either, but Boost will give her lots of extra calories and maybe she won't be able to burn all of them.

She got 3 shots and was not too happy about that, but quickly recovered when I told her we'd watch Backyardigans in the car. Addie is doing a lot of walking today, not more than a few steps at a time but is choosing to walk around instead of crawl. Nuna gave Addie some birthday money so we went to KB Toys (they are going out of business) and got her a baby stroller that she loves to walk around with. I let Addie pick out what she wanted and among all of the baby dolls on the shelves, Addie finds the one "Fur Real" Parrot and wanted it. You feed the parrot a bottle and it chirps and makes a clucking sound. She feeds that bird the bottle all day long. Then she takes the bottle and feeds her baby doll Grandma got her for her birthday. I also got her a grocery basket of play food, an apron, chefs hat, and spoon kit, a backyardigans sprinkler, an airplane (she drives it all over the cabinets making a brrrr sound), and a few other little things, and all of it came to $26.00!

As I'm typing this we are watching American Idol on DVR and this one Really bad girl comes on and Addie looks up at the tv and says "doo doo, doo doo, doo doo". HAHA! Addie's new words are "stop", "up", and "all done".

We go back to the doctor in a month for a weight check, so cross your fingers!

Scary

Friday afternoon I headed out shopping, seeing as it was going to be the last decent day of mild weather for a while. As I pulled into my home around 7 pm, my uncle Bob who lives next door came and knocked on my car window. He said my grandmother Mawmaw (dads mom) had fallen at my parents so he was on his way. I called mom to see how she was. She said Mawmaw had fallen but was getting up when Mom ran in there, but was dizzy. While I was talking to Mom, Mawmaw's heart stopped. They called 911 and got an ambulance in route and I headed that way.

I made it there before the paramedics and as I came in I could see that Dad was the only thing keeping her alive (she was this strange gray color and wouldn't respond to anyone). Dad did at least 400 chest compressions and kept breathing for her until the paramedics got there. My mom was praying and right as they arrived she started to come around. I called Jarom in the meantime and he headed over. As they were getting her on the gurney and into the ambulance she started talking to them and as they took her blood pressure she was asking them what it read. They told her it was low and she wanted to know exactly what it was!

As soon as they allowed two people back into her room, Dad and Jarom gave Mawmaw a blessing and by the time I went into the room, Mawmaw seemed completely fine other than pain from the compressions. She told me that she was going to be fine and that she had to stick around to help raise Addie and my cousin's baby that is on the way.

I am awed by the power of the priesthood and the power of prayer. The doctors were unable to find anything wrong with my grandmother after cat scans, MRIs, ultrasounds, and tons of blood work. Mawmaw is back home and doing great (well at my uncle's as her house is being repaired from a car running into it, but that's another story!!!).

More Holidays and Catch Up

I'll pick up where I left off... The Monday before Christmas we ate again at Alisha's, Tuesday shopped for last minute things and decorated sugar cookies, then Wednesday (Christmas Eve) we got Kiara from the airport and finished up last minute shopping.

From there we went to Mawmaw's for the tradition of dinner and the sometimes (who am I kidding... always) crazy gift exchange. Dad and Bruce took their usual spots as protectors of the gifts in case anyone dared to "rush" the tree.
We skipped out early to make it home for our overnight things and headed out to the Haynie's for the nativity and pajama gifts from Nuna (who really outdid herself this year with homemade pjs for all the grandkids and girls).

Chase & Addie leaving cookies for SantaWe opened our gifts from each other and Santa on Christmas morning and headed over to Alisha's for a great breakfast and then the older boys headed out for rides on the gocart. They were disgusting after and had to be hosed off before they were allowed back in.

Addie checking out her stash from Santa and Mom and Dad
We later went to Mom's for another wonderful meal and gifts.
I really racked up this year... I got this
and this...
and Mikimoto pearl earrings, 2 identical wallets (from Jarom and Mom- how funny is that?), and a few other things from my insane list. I oughta make a list more often!

Unfortunately Addie and I caught a stomach bug that was going around Jarom's family, and I woke up the morning after Christmas puking. Addie's didn't start until Saturday. I thought I was better that first evening then woke up again with the pukes at 4 AM Saturday. Jarom had dinner duties so he dropped Addie off at Mom's and I stayed home to get better. Sunday I thought we were both better, but Monday Addie was sick and I just didn't feel quite right. We had family pictures that day, and then I had dinner duties, so I got home exhausted. Tuesday after a long sleep we were both doing great (or so I thought). Wednesday morning (New Years Eve) I woke up puking again and feeling horrible. Addie woke up with horrible diarrhea as well. Mom took me to the doctor but they think its just this virus that's been making rounds where you feel better then it returns. Luckily I felt better as the day went on and was able to eat lunch and dinner. Jarom and I were total losers for New Years Eve and went to bed at 1o:30 only to be awoken by the dogs going nuts at midnight because people were shooting off fireworks. We turned over and went back to sleep! I woke up feeling wonderful New Years Day and have felt great first. Addie however stayed sick for two whole weeks and just got over it Friday, but then developed double ear infections. She is on antibiotics and seems to feel better.

We have been trying to get all of the Christmas stuff down and up to the attic, and are trying to get back to a normal routine.

Addie still isn't quite walking. She took 6 steps the other day, but that is the most so far. She loves to be carried around and I think I probably baby her too much. She stands really well and can get up without grabbing anything. She now says "baby" and "doo doo"(Much to Grandma's dismay though Daddy thinks its hilarious).
Well that almost catches me up, I'll post some pictures from my new camera later!
