Addie's dream, Target, and her Ipad...

Dream

I don't want to jinx it, but Addie has been so amazing at naps and bedtime lately it shocks me. I just tell her to go get in bed and she goes in her room, climbs up, lays down and goes to sleep. With moving and remodeling we got off schedule and naps got skipped way too often, which made for a grumpy girl in the evening. So we are finally back on schedule where she takes a good 2 hour nap late afternoon and man those naps make all the difference!

So today I woke Addie up from her nap after church and she called me in her room and tells me all excitedly about the dream she had. It went like this:

"Momma, there was a biiiiig buggy that craw-ed on me and tickled me! It tickled my feet, it tickled tickled tickled, then climbed all the way up to the top of my head and flew away like a buttah-fy, but it wasn't a buttah-fy mommy, it was a BUGGY! Si-lll-y buggy!" (Addie rolls her l's-so funny)

Jarom and I got a laugh about her dream and how much she remembers now.

Target

Addie's favorite store is apparently Target. She asks all the time to go there and is always talking about buying things there. Tonight's question for me was: "Momma, what is your favorite animal? A kitty, doggy, or elephant?" I answered a bird just to get a rise out of her and she says "a bird?? Oh ok! I go to Target so I can buy you a birdy and you can come with me!"

And lastly... the darn Ipad

Jarom bought an Ipad a few weeks ago and Addie has become completely obsessed with the thing! She asks for it the second Jarom gets home (Daddy, I wanna play puzzles on you's ipad!) and loves to play puzzles on it, a coloring game, and a music game where the computer gives you 5 notes and then you have to play them back. She is crazy good on the computer and knows how to turn it on, unlock it, and navigate the whole thing! Addie has learned how to get on Netflix, find Dora or Diego (her favorite cartoons) or a cartoon movie like Anastasia and she loads the episodes and watches them. She didn't want to give up the ipad the other night to go take her bath and so I asked her whose ipad it was anyways, to which she answered "daddy's but I share with him!!!"

"And I wiped my bummy too!"

Addie is now an official big girl! The last four weeks have been full of changes towards total "big girl" but have gone much smoother than I ever thought they would! So glad I am getting this all done before Livy gets here!

Four weeks ago I finally gained the courage to move Addie out of our room... Gasp I know! But I have been too wussy to let her out of my sight so she's been in our room in her own bed since I moved her out of OUR bed at a year. I bought a video monitor (AKA mom's lifesaver), converted her crib to a toddler bed and collapsed the crib in our room so there was no turning back! For nap that afternoon I put her in her bed hoping for the best. Within seconds she was out of bed playing with toys so I repeated the process of putting her back in bed 6 times without talking to her before I about lost my mind. So the next time she got out of bed I went into her room, collected an armful of toys and took them out. She asked me on the second trip to get toys where they were going and I told her (warning: bad mommy moment)... the trash. It only took two more trips before total meltdown occurred and she cried herself to sleep in her bed. But the whole process only took 30 minutes (and no worries, toys were only in the hall and were returned after nap). So for night time I had her get in bed, I turned on the nightlight and she was up in seconds playing. I then turned off the nightlight and put her in bed to which she was bawling at the door in seconds again. So finally we reached a very happy medium: nightlight on, bedroom door open and she stayed in bed. And its been that way ever since! HOORAY! I can't believe I didn't try it sooner! She still will occasionally ask to sleep in our bed but after some hugs and the addition of some stuffed animals in her bed she lays down for the night. Did I mention I LOVE my video monitor?!!! The first two nights she fell out of the bed so until I can find rails that fit, I now pull her chair and ottoman to the bed edge and she has had peaceful sleep since.

So once I had a week of sleeping in big girl bed down, I decided it was time to give up my security of pullups on little miss especially with Livy soon on her way. It went better than I thought and we only had two accidents that first week of big girl panties and one during nap last week. I think we are almost done with panty training (at least during the day and naps). I say panty training because Addie has used the big girl potty since last July but I have depended on pullups in public because of the fear of accidents. The thought of pee all over a shopping buggy sent me over the edge. And at home she'd go bare bottomed because everything else was treated as a diaper for pees, while bare bottomed-ness equaled 100% success. We haven't had any issues with poos since I bribed her with a trip to the toy store but pees were another story! I almost had her out of the pullups back in November but was derailed by my miscarriage followed by holidays, followed by my current pregnancy, and finally selling our house and buying another. We still have to conquer night time, but I think it will be soon because we have only had one wet pullup in the last week during nights! Addie is a very deep sleeper and doesn't wake up for potty breaks, but has been doing great! But pullups only at night are so much better than pullups all day!

So last week Addie ran and grabbed a step stool and headed to the bathroom. She only needs my helps on #2's and calls me when she does need help. That day though was a different story... She was in the bathroom a little longer than usual but I didn't think anything of it... until she ran in the living room (naked) and announced "Mommy, I went peepee and poopoo and I wiped my bummy too!!!" I asked her where her clothes went and when she turned to run into the bathroom that is when I see little streamers of toilet paper hanging from her between her teeny bum cheeks! Wow!

And lastly... Addie loves to announce that people are stinky... very loudly and especially in public restrooms... So embarrassing when we walk into a bathroom and she announces that the lady in the stall next to us is "STINKY!!!! EWWW"... I stifle my giggles as I shush her but it doesn't seem to help! Oh geez!

And in case anyone is in the market for a baby (or in my case... toddler) video monitor, this one is WONDERFUL. It is the Summer Infant Slim and Secure and is really my favorite baby item so far. You can add up to 3 more cameras to it so that you can watch multiple kiddos, it is portable, has a clear signal, and durable (we've dropped it several times)! I'll be buying another camera for Livy very soon!

Addie's breakfast prayer

Addie likes to say prayers along with us while we pray so for the last few months I've been encouraging her to just say the prayer, which she does with a little help here and there. But today's prayer made me giggle... I think I've been reading too many bedtime stories that end with "the end"!

Addie: "Dear Heavely fath-uh, tank thee for dis day, for all blessings, for food... momma help me!"
Me: "please bless..."
Addie: "please bless food, that it nourish and strengthen our bod-eeees, we say these things... THE END!"
Me: (suppressing a giggle) "...in the name..."
Addie: "in the name of Jesus Christ... AMEN!"
