Jarom's birthday and Addie stuff

Happy 26 Jarom!

Jarom celebrated his 26th birthday Wednesday. He is in denial and keeps saying he's 25... He claims he'll be 25 for a few more years. He also realized 30 is just around the corner and gave me a deadline... no more kids after 30. Lucky for me, he and I only plan for one more baby, so that gives me plenty of time to wait! He is getting a Vitamix (that's what he wanted) when they come to Costco on the 27th and I got him an iron brand that has JH on it so he can brand our grilled meats, wood, the dogs (JUST KIDDING!!), whatever he feels the need to add his initials to. Its pretty cool actually. It was custom ordered, so it didn't come in in time for Wednesday but we expect it in the mail today or tomorrow. The J&H are combined so it looks like a really fancy H, so he is excited to start leaving his mark on everything. Jarom also got a laptop last month, that was supposed to be his birthday gift, but apparently I am a softie.

Jarom had to go to church that night so while he was gone I fixed him a big birthday feast. I grilled bacon wrapped fillets (and added hickory chips so they had a smoked flavor-YUM), made candied carrots, baked potatoes, fried onion and aussie sauce, and baked him a cake. Don't laugh at my cake, I was in a hurry and the icing decided to make a run for it. We were stuffed!
Addie learned how to blow out candles

Addie playing with the potato peeler gloves Jarom got gypped into buying. I was cleaning out cabinets and found them, added them to our rummage sale pile and Addie just HAD to wear them...
I love Addie's age right now! We have so much fun during the day. She copies everything I do and has to "help" all the time. She hands me toilet paper while I potty, she flushes for me, helps me clean carpet (with my new carpet steamer, woohoo!), picks up her toys when I ask her to (most of the time), and she loves to hand me everything... (she grabs anything and everything in the room and brings it to me).

She is saying lots of new words, puppy, bunny, bum, bird, ball, purple, blue, and has perfected her "hot". At the home show at the VBC this past weekend, we walked by some fireplaces that had a fire going and she said "mamamamamamamama HOT HOT HOT". Whenever she wants my attention, she repeats mama over and over and over again until I give her my undivided attention. She things anything and everything that is round is a ball, and loudly proclaimed over and over at my insurance agents office (while we discussed adding more life insurance) that the wheels on the end of the chair were in fact balls. At the grocery store they had a huge bin of balls (they do it just to torture the parents I'm sure) and Addie desperately needed one. I ended up giving in and that $1.47 has been very well spent. It is one of her favorite toys (this might be in part because daddy insists on bouncing it off of the walls, cabinets, her head, whatever is around- much to her glee). Addie also loves to call people. She presses buttons then says "heyyo heyyo" "whaudoingggggg" (what are you doing?). She also has started to say "thayyou" but not as often as I wish she would!
My uncle Bob who lives next door (Addie calls him Bobby... hehehe) took a trip with us to a different park on Saturday and we found that they had baby swings, several slides and was apparently Addie's new favorite place to play. She ran all over the place and actually did pretty well on the mulch playground. I was worried because it was such an uneven surface, but when Addie fell, she quickly would dust off her hands and would be back running in a second. She has definitely gotten tougher when it comes to falling. She did not want to leave when it was time to go, and the only way I got her away without tears was to let her walk beside the stroller. Finally she wore down and let me put her in the stroller and she fell asleep on the rest of the way home.
I think Addie has sadly outgrown bubble suits, I dreamt of a summer full of them, but she had to go grow up...
It's funny how something simple like a stick completely stops Addie in her tracks... She first sees it, stops to inspect it, then satisfied, moves on... Ah, my little Sherlock.

Addie dusting her hands off after a fall She plays so hard now that she really wears herself out and has been sleeping 11 hours straight. She falls asleep eating lunch more often now, but somehow manages to eat and snooze. She doesn't want to take a nap before lunch but as soon as I set her down to eat, she starts getting droopy eyed. It is so funny to watch her. Her eyes are shut, and she just blindly pats around on her tray until she finds something, shoves it in her mouth and repeats. She does so until she is full (I guess) and then I'll transfer her to bed.

Here is her eating/snoozing... The other night I gave her a bottle, put her in her bed (which is next to mine), (don't judge!) and I laid down to go to sleep. Jarom and I were whispering about something and Addie sits up and says "I wo up" (I woke up).... Oh brother!!! I said "No you didn't, lay down!" and we tried to stifle our giggles while she laid back down and pretended to sleep. Ah my child is a booger!

Since Addie is showing so much interest in the potty, we are going to go buy her a potty today and some big girl panties. We will work on her "potty awareness" for a few months (since she's only 15 months), letting her sit on her potty while I do, letting her try on her big girl panties and such, just let her get comfortable with the whole idea, and then tackle the training part hopefully after. She loves to show me where her peepee and poopoo come from when I ask her, tugs on her diaper and hides to go poop, so I thought this might be the next step. She hates getting her diaper changed, and I really hate buying and changing diapers, and I realize things will probably not go as planned, but I am still blissfully naive and hope for the best. Don't burst my bubble!
Other than that, things have been pretty uneventful. I came down with another stomach bug last week Wednesday for 2 days miserable and then better on the third, perfect on the 4th day. Jarom caught a touch of it late one night, but luckily felt better when he woke up the next day and Addie managed to escape it. We finally recovered from our colds/RSV/sinus infections, and are feeling pretty good. Hopefully the weather will warm soon and we will have lots of outdoor time and can keep away from the germs. The Haynie's are traveling here from Tulsa today and will visit until the following Sunday so we are excited to see them and to see how much little Davis has grown! I've already stocked up on some food for dinner, so we are ready to party!

Savannah was really easy to potty train, and she was VERY interested in the whole process like Addie. And Savannah would eat ASLEEP too... so funny!

Lots of fun stuff! I'm so impressed with your birthday meal! I can honestly say I've never used Dan's grill, but I think I should try. Oh, and I love Addi's words. You're going to love that you recorded them! So cute.

Very good post, I can't think of half the stuff I wanted to say. I'm sure I'll remember and tell you later on this week!

Happy birthday Jarom (really belated but I did text on your bday!). You are a good wife and I think your cake looks perfect.
I love Addie and Avery's age too. It is so fun and they are so smart. It's fun to see what they learn.
I don't think you are too naive... my sister-in-law had her 4 girls potty trained at 18 months.
