Veterans Day Parade 2008
I am so thankful to live in this wonderful country.
I am especially thankful to all of the veterans who have fought for our freedom that we enjoy every day and for those brave soldiers protecting us now. I can't imagine a life where I couldn't worship as I pleased or one where I didn't feel safe outside of my home and I owe that completely to our veterans and current military.
Yesterday Mom, Katie, & I took Addie to her first Veterans Day parade downtown. We didn't realize the parade route had changed and finally found Aunt Joan and Mimmie among the crowd after walking a mile out of the way. Addie didn't know what to think of the ceremony before, but once the parade got going she loved waving at everyone passing by. One person gave her a little flag of her own so she waved it at everyone after that. She couldn't get a good grasp on the flag due to her mittens, so I stuck the flag down the sleeve of her coat and she waved like crazy! Unfortunately the actual parade didn't start until closer to noon and Addie was so tired that after about 20 minutes of parade action her eyes glazed over and she her little head hit my chest, she was out cold. I enjoyed the parade a little bit longer and then we headed home.

I am so grateful for this wonderful country. What a wonderful land we have to live in. I love the way Addie enjoyed the parade. Can't wait for Christmas. :)
So precious that she waved the flag after you had to stick it down her sleeve. That is darling.
I never think about parades until after the fact. Hopefully my children won't be scarred. :)
What a good post. I am so thankful for the country we live in and for all that the veterans and soldiers have done and continue to do for us! Addie is such a little doll.
What a wonderful thing to be thankful for! I love this country and I am so blessed to be a citizen of it. I could not thank the veterans/soldiers enough for the sacrifice they make daily for me and my family.
I love Addie's coat! It is so darn cute! Oh and Avery has that blanket... it is her favorite. Better hide it when we come or she might steal it!
I am so thankful that my Daddy served full time for our country. He served 4 years in the navy during WWII and then in the Air Force in the Korean Ward. He served for over 20 years in the Air Force. It has always given me a lot of of pride for our Country.
