January 2010 in recap

We had a fun start to our year! We spent New Years Eve with just the 3 of us. We went to dinner at Red Robin, went by and rented a movie and brought in the New Year drinking sparkling grape juice and watching G Force. I had to wake Jarom up at midnight, but it was a very good evening. (Much better than last year when I brought in the new year throwing up.)
An Addie original. She is too cool! Haha!
The month quickly moved along with Jarom finally getting an MRI on his knee that had been bothering him since the car accident in October. The MRI revealed a complex tear in the medial meniscus in his knee and so surgery was scheduled for the following week, the 22nd.

On the 19th we celebrated Mawmaw's (Dad's mother) 90th birthday! We had a surprise dinner at Cracker Barrell with the entire Woody clan followed by cake and presents at her house later.
Mom made the fabulous chocolate strawberry cake topped with fresh strawberries and chocolate shavings. MMM. Jarom has somehow become the family official cake cutter. He demolished the cake, but everyone got a nice slice.Mawmaw thought she was just having dinner with my Dad, Mom, and Bob, but when she arrived her 3 boys, all her grandkids (minus Sam), and her 2 great grandbabies were there.
This was the best picture I was able to get of Mawmaw with her great grandkids Addie and Leo. Maybe next time! We had a blast! Mawmaw gets around great for her age and still drives, pays her bills, grocery shops, and drives us all up the wall at times with the way she carries on, but we love her!
Mawmaw with her three sons. Dad, Bruce, and Bob. Man it was impossible to get a picture without shadows since I left my nice flash at home. But better a picture with shadows than no picture at all right???Jarom, Dad, and Mawmaw right before the present opening began.
Me, Mawmaw, Katie, and Addie
Getting a picture with Mawmaw AND Addie both looking and smiling is apparently also impossible.

Jarom had surgery that Friday and we went into the surgery with two options. Option 1 was that the tear would be in an area that didn't receive blood so they would just remove the maniscus and he'd be on crutches for one week but in the long term, he'd probably end up with a knee replacement. Option 2 was that it would be in an area that received blood and they'd be able to stitch it so that it'd be like new, but with 6 weeks on crutches (the chance of option two was only about 10%). So... we ended up with option two which is great... except it meant we had to buy a new truck. Jarom's current truck (that was almost paid off) was a stick shift and he had orders from the doctor not to drive it. So we were either to have me without a car while Jarom worked in Decatur for 6 weeks or we had to purchase one. So we bought a 2007 Dodge Ram Laramie Quad Cab, and now Jarom can drive Addie and its an automatic.
So I forgot to take a picture of his truck but it looks prety much like this except it's a hemi and has really huge tires and chrome rims, and lots more chrome detailing on it... Somehow it doesn't manage to look ghetto though... just nice.
On the 26th we found out that we were expecting again! We are so excited but still a little nervous until we get past this first trimester! Almost there! We had an ultrasound in February and everything looks good, so we expect baby 2 the first week in October! I'm having to have progesterone shots in my rear EVERY week and I had lots of blood work done the first two weeks to make sure levels were where they were supposed to be, so while it is miserable to have sore buns nonstop accompanied by extreme exhaustion, it will be worth it in the end!
So that pretty much wraps up the first month of 2010 for us!

Dr. Culpepper at Sports Med did the surgery. We really like him. You never have a long wait at his office!
