Scary

Friday afternoon I headed out shopping, seeing as it was going to be the last decent day of mild weather for a while. As I pulled into my home around 7 pm, my uncle Bob who lives next door came and knocked on my car window. He said my grandmother Mawmaw (dads mom) had fallen at my parents so he was on his way. I called mom to see how she was. She said Mawmaw had fallen but was getting up when Mom ran in there, but was dizzy. While I was talking to Mom, Mawmaw's heart stopped. They called 911 and got an ambulance in route and I headed that way.

I made it there before the paramedics and as I came in I could see that Dad was the only thing keeping her alive (she was this strange gray color and wouldn't respond to anyone). Dad did at least 400 chest compressions and kept breathing for her until the paramedics got there. My mom was praying and right as they arrived she started to come around. I called Jarom in the meantime and he headed over. As they were getting her on the gurney and into the ambulance she started talking to them and as they took her blood pressure she was asking them what it read. They told her it was low and she wanted to know exactly what it was!

As soon as they allowed two people back into her room, Dad and Jarom gave Mawmaw a blessing and by the time I went into the room, Mawmaw seemed completely fine other than pain from the compressions. She told me that she was going to be fine and that she had to stick around to help raise Addie and my cousin's baby that is on the way.

I am awed by the power of the priesthood and the power of prayer. The doctors were unable to find anything wrong with my grandmother after cat scans, MRIs, ultrasounds, and tons of blood work. Mawmaw is back home and doing great (well at my uncle's as her house is being repaired from a car running into it, but that's another story!!!).

I'm so glad that you dad was there and especially that she is ok! On another, less serious note--the sales lady told me the rest of the store goes on sale to 40% off on Sunday, FYI. : )

HOLY!! How scary. Thank goodness for CPR and that your dad had the strength to keep it up so long. I am so glad she is doing well!

So scary! I'm grateful for the priesthood, too, and so glad she made it and is doing better!
