Over the top? Perhaps...

So I have implemented a "no shoes in the house" policy. This comes from constant panic of what Addie will put (or currently has) in her mouth. It is not practical to mop and scrub rugs every day, and its not practical to try to wash Addie's hands every five minutes. There is no end to what gets tracked in on shoes...think of all the junk you have stepped in accidentally... doggy doo, lugeys, pesticides, dirt, bugs, lead, toxins, and general muck- with Addie all over the floors I can't relax unless I know that my floors are clean and that she won't be rubbing her food all over that muck and then putting it in her mouth.

I hope I do not offend anyone by asking them to remove their shoes, but I have to keep Addie's best interest in mind. I am trying to find a cute sign to hang outside both of my doors... I might try to enlist some of you crafty people to help me with it. Next craft day maybe?

So am I over the top? Maybe. But consider this fair warning! :)

I found your blog through Alisha's and thought I would let you know what I did for a "no shoes in the house" sign. It is really cute and it just says "stocking feet please". I am totally with you about not wanting all of the outside "yuck" tracked through my house!

How funny, I was going to tell you about Mandi's sign, I think it is precious! I've tried a no-shoes rule, and Nate acts like I'm a loon when I suggest it, so it doesn't work too well here... at least the kids and I stick to it!

A shoe basket by the doors work great too. People immediately see the shoes and just assume theirs belong in that area.
I don't think you should worry about offending people. Most probably are the same way.
But you should totally do a sign like Mandi's. So cute. Especially this time of year with Christmas stockings and all.

You will have to let me know how Jarom does with this "no shoes". Whenever I tried it in my house he wore no shoes alright inside and outside. He ruined so many pairs of socks because he would never take the time to put his shoes on again when he went outside! So let me know if he will listen to you...

THat is such a good idea. I am always freaked about the germs Avery puts in her month from our floors. Michael is totally a shoe wearer and so that will be a battle I might have to ensue...
